Total money lost $710

Type of a scam Rental

My family contracted a condo in Maui, Hi, with Bliss Vacation Rentals. The money was paid via Walmart to Fidel Rocha, 6405 Arden Rd., Amarillo, Tx. 79109. Mildred Barrett was the contact (owner/manager). She was to be at the property to check us in and tour the unit.

The condo was located through the Maui condo rentals web and their web page was outstanding. The condo was Aston Mahana, one of the best in Maui, unit #1107.

We arrived on April 15 and there was no one there to meet us. We called two numbers 808-215-9206/808-216-7326, however neither was answered. There was an answering machine at one and I said I was there to check in.

We finally went to the reception counter (again) and she was very nice. She gave us another number which we called and were informed the unit had already been rented out. The owner’s name did not match that name we had.

This company was the true managing company for the unit we rented. They were able to meet with us and set us up in a different location.

VRBO/HomeAway were part of this rental. VRBO did return a portion of their fees but we never were able to get the booking fee from Bliss Vacation Rentals. Not sure how VRBO/HomeAway were a part of this situation. VRBO was the contact letting us know we were accepted for the rental.

Type of a scam Travel/Vacations

I inquired about a vacation rental in Maui. The scammer sent me 20 photos of a place that normally would be priced at double the offered price to give me the impression that I was getting a good deal. He then sent a separate email with a Docusign contract and wanted me to provide payment for the rental. He used the name Robert Kugel. I think he used either a fake website or a legit one (but wasn’t his) called Bliss Vacation Rentals.
