Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

I received a "Cashiers check" for $2750.19 via Priority mail flat envelope, with a letter advising me what to do with $2,400.00 of it & retain $350.00 as wages. I took it to my bank to see the manager before going any further. She determined it was a scam & kept the check, giving me a photocopy of it & the letter.

I have signed up to do surveys online, so I wasn’t surprised, but this was not paert of the survey company I signed up with, or the Kroger one I signed up for either.

Of course, I was disappointed not to be able to earn the $350, but since it was all with "gift cards", I was suspicious.
