As a retired nurse, I received a letter in the mail saying I had been left 2 million dollars by a former patient. It was sent on a legal letterhead and there was a legal website on the web with no phone contact. It was suggested that I contact them within ten days or the money would be turned over to the state for community development. I did not respond and found evidence of previous scams identical to this online.

The letter says a business man that was a patient in an institution where I worked as a caregiver/nurse, was so pleased with the care I gave him that he left me 2 million dollars. I should call Cory Grant at 888-507-0932 to claim my prize within 10 days or it will be turned over to the government for community development. I did not call the number. I figured you might want to investigate. It was also mention in the letter that I should keep this confidential. There were many flags that I recognized, but others may not.

This letter comes with letterhead reading Bill Millman & Associates Official Bequest Notice Claim # HCA/009/CA17
The letter looks official except the upper left hand corner appears with a stamp of the words Bill Millman & Associates and a logo and when signed it is signed Bill millman with a small m and no words "Associates". There appear to be several different type faces used throughout the letter not what you’d see on a real official letter.
In the letter it states, "Our records show that years back our late client was once a patient in an institution where you worked as a Caregiver/Nurse while he was on a business trip in the U.S. Our late client indicated that you took care of him with great compassion that propelled him to recover faster than the doctors anticipated. When he recovered and was ready to be discharged, he secretly collected your name and address since he intended to astonish you with a great compensation as this. You are therefore advised to contact us via toll free 1-855-413-7835 and ask for Thomas Dean. You are required to send in a claim application form to start the process of disbursement of funds. Until then, your money will be held in trust and change of ownership will occur when your application is received.
The problem with this letter for me is my patients were all women. So for them to say it was a man–well that was the stop sign.
