Type of a scam Online Purchase
I inquired about the purchase is a dog. They told me the dog would be $500 plus &189 shipping. He sent me pictures and told me he would send the dog on a flight that would have someone attending to him the whole way. He wanted the money wired via Western Union. I told him I would only send half and the other half when I received the dog. We sent the money. He then emailed me a transfer of ownership document that I was to sign and send back to him. This was to insure that I could pick the dog up at the airport proving that I owned the dog.
Then the shipping company emailed and called me to make the arrangement. They sent me a tracking number, and added that I would have to pay $1540 for insurance. They assured me that I would get the $1500 back when I picked up the dog. I said that I was not going to pay that fee. He then explained to me that if I didn’t take possession of the dog within 48 hrs, I would be fined $25,000 and up to 3 years in jail for dog abandonment. Needless to say, I don’t have a dog. I think these folks have already taken their website down and are probably operating under a new name. The owners name is Tony Thompson, 524 West Ave, Apt 2, Richmond, VA, 894-608-6555. The shippers name is James Smith, Forward Logistic, 4500 International Gateway, Richmond, VA 23221, 804-449-7788. I doubt that is their real name, but it’s what I have. DON’T fall for this!!
