Type of a scam Tech Support
Yesterday March 18 my phone rang and caller ID identified it as Dell. Since I have a service contract with Dell I picked up the call. I asked the caller (indian accent) for my service ID number to verify, which he had. He then went on to tell me all my devices had been compromised and a hacker got into my internet connection. I gave over control of my computer to him and he showed me that hackers could block pop up boxes that would warn me of an error. After going through the computer he offered a service contract. When I said I did have one with Dell, he said that is just for hardware, we protect software for Dell and you will deal with us. I gave him my American Express card number and when he said it will be to Best Computer Repair I again questioned his veracity. Luckily I told what had transpired to a relative who urged me to call Dell. They said they never make such calls. I asked how can they have my caller ID come up with Dell and he said the scammers can get so much information and to so many illegal things I called my banks and American Express and will notify the FCc tomorrow.
These people used fraudulent methods to deceive. I strongly urge you investigate this company.
