Type of a scam Employment
The scammer contacted me through Upwork, claiming to be an employee of Bayer. They continued the scam by asking for my address and which bank I use. Then, they sent a check for over $4,000 and told me to go cash it at an ATM, not a teller. Thankfully, I was told this was fraud by my bank before I wired money for "home office equipment." The whole thing was conducted on Google Hangouts and felt very real.
