My desktop was completely frozen up. Barewire sent a dropdown (I Think) offered to get all the bugs out. They restored my box but then said I owed them $699.00. I couldn’t get that much for this machine to save my life. They sent a message warning me not to go to my bank account; they were watching it. Went to my bank, w/drew my funds. Several days later got email invoice but so far no action by them. Scared.

A representative of Barewire LTD emailed me saying Barewire company is a service company in the Microsoft Community and it was found that my computer had a virus and they would clean it all up for $299. I emailed the company my contact information including my phone number. The representative was very convincing and persistent and I finally agreed to pay them to clean up my computer. They asked if I had any specific problems with my computer and I told them I was having difficulty printing. They had me type in a series of commands which then fixed the printer so when they instructed me to type in additional instructions I believed they were legitimately cleaning my computer. I now realize by following their instructions I gave them access to my computer. I took my laptop to the Geek Squad and they did find a virus. I have contacted my credit card company and am disputing the chargers. I want to warn others of this scam.

Long story short, I was using my laptop. The screen froze and several warnings came it. Said to call Microsoft for help. Sadly…I feel for it and called. The so called "tech" from Microsoft did a remote thing on my laptop ( now I’m thinking he got all of my information) Then he referred me to a company called Barewire Ltd that supposedly specializes in scammers! UGH! Realizing now that the whole thing is a SCAM, I feel like a complete [censored].
