Type of a scam Phishing
Automated call where it sounds like a real person. As soon as you do not answer them, the call is disconnected. I have called the number back and you are able to talk to a live person. As soon as you ask them to remove you from the call list, they agree and hang up on you. I finally pretended to be interested in what they had to offer so I was transferred to another "live" person. When the second person asked me why I called, I told her that it was because I kept receiving calls and I wanted to know what they were trying to contact me for. She hung up on me again.
This is for an "extended auto warranty" on my car. My car is a 2016 with a 5 year warranty and in no danger of expiring any time soon. They have me with the correct car but are saying I need to pay them money to extend my warranty because my car has over 150,000 miles on it. MY CAR HAS 10 thousand miles ONLY.
This is an absolute scam and these people call me 5 or 6 times per day. I have asked every time to be removed (when I call them back) and have yet to be removed.
