Type of a scam Counterfeit Product

This website claims to be the St. Louis Cardinals Official Online Store. Their prices seemed too good to be true so I went down to read the about and FAQ pages. The about page seemed legit however when I went to the FAQ page some questions and all of the answers from the website were in extremely broken English. The last question asks “why was I charged more than the purchase price”. Their answer was that they only collect the purchase price and any other charges were from the “blank” as “blank” fees. Obviously this is meant to be “bank”. Since I have determined that they are without question a foreign company it may be possible that the bank charging fees is true. Since a foreign exchange would have to take place your bank may very well charge a fee.

Due to the red flags above and the fact that they were selling replica Majestic jerseys that usually run about $120 for $30.99 and “authentic” (meaning exactly what the players wear on field) jerseys that usually go for $250 plus for $32.99 I chose not to take any chances. My guess is that these jerseys are coming from China. If not China it is still certainly overseas.

While writing this I did a little more research. The official jerseys are manufactured in Pennsylvania. According to cardboardconnection.com the first way to identify a knock of is by “ridiculously low prices”. Their main purpose is to warn collectors they aren’t receiving the official product and the quality will not be as good as the original. They compare it to buying a fake Gucci bag. They go on to say that if you are willing to accept a lower quality item that appears the same you shouldn’t worry about it. While I understand their point I cannot suggest or condone someone purchasing a counterfeit item that is protected by a Trade Mark or Patent. This is especially true when the purchase sends American dollars overseas and takes the money away from American companies that manufacture in the USA which in turn takes money from their workforce.
