Type of a scam Phishing

This entity has been calling our residence land line every 5-10 minutes leaving a recorded message even though we block calls that are not familiar to our family. For some reason the calls from this entity get through and they leave a message that says: "This is AT&T internet fraud alert calling and before you use your internet we recommend that you select "1" and talk to our representative". I finally picked up the next call and selected "1" and I was put through to a man who could not speak English and answered by saying "how can I help you". I told him that I did not want any further calls and hung up. Then I called AT&T customer service and explained the call to a representative who was very professional and he gathered the information and said that this sounded like a phishing scam where people use the AT&T company name and then want to know account numbers, etc to gather information about our account. The customer service rep for AT&T was going to turn my information over to their fraud alert department. We have an AT&T account for our cell phones but not for our internet service. We receive internet service from a third party provider.
