Type of a scam Debt Collections
Female called from (860)937-9778 to provide me with a phone number(888)896-7701 and case number. She said my name and asked if it was me. She said that I had a civil judgement placed against me. Prior to hanging up she asked me to repeat the case number and phone number to her. She advised me to call the number she provided and give them my case number.
Upon calling I spoke with "Atchison and Baker", who claimed they were a credit collection agency. The female answering the phone wanted me to provide her with my date of birth, which I refused. I know I don’t owe anyone money. She became "snarky" about my refusal so I asked to speak with her supervisor. Another female got on the phone after being placed on hold. She said her name was Caitlyn Scott and that they needed either the last 4 digits of my social security number or my date of birth to verify who I was. I reminded them that they had called me!
She said she could send all the documents VIA mail which I agreed to. I provided my mailing address and she provided an address to me that she claimed the debt was associated with. No association with this address whatsoever.
Upon hanging up I found two other complaints about this company and also Googled their address. Looks to be a UPS store. They have a fancy website so it "looks" legit if you quick search them while you are on the phone with them. I called Experian and reported this and there are no debts against me. They will notify the other credit reporting agencies and flag my credit to be monitored for any activity. My debit card had been compromised the week prior to this as well.
