Type of a scam Phishing
I received the following text this morning:
"FRM:FR MSG: Associated Bank – Your Urgent Attention Is Needed. Please Contact: (513) 257-0045/(513) 257-0069?"
The first number is actually hyperlinked (Not just my phone finding the number and linking it. My phone asks if I want to leave that app if I try to click on it) the second number does not have a question mark after it, but an upside down one showing me it was supposed to be hyperlinked or had an unknown character added to the end.
This is NOT the area code of where I live, or any of the numbers for Associated Bank. A bank I have had nothing to do with for about 8 years now. I never had any loans or cards from that bank, just a savings account, and I know there is no reason they would need to urgently speak to me about a savings account I closed 8 years ago…Happy I know a little better than to just click on links and numbers! The message is very vague, so I consider it to be phishing, and I didn’t want to follow any links to see what it would try to do to my phone and information.
