I emailed to inquire about a bengal kitten on this website. The person who responded sent additional pictures of the kitten with a price of $400 for a cat that usually sells for well over $1000. They also asked me some adoption questions. I responded with answers to those questions and also asked several questions about where the cattery was located, could they send pictures of the parents, specifics about the personality of the kitten I was asking about, and whether they tested for heart defects.
They responded by acting thrilled I would adopt the kitten and said it would be an extra $200 to ship the kitten. They asked for lots of personal information and said they would send me their bank account number to transfer the money.
They also replied with a physical address in TX. When I looked up the address, it was a kennel that boards and breeds dogs. No mention of cats, and also a different phone number. When I googled the phone number included in the email, someone had said they’d been scammed out of $300 for a kitten.
I sent another email asking the person if they operated out of the kennel, with a link to the actual kennel website, and never received a response back.
Thankfully, I never gave them any info, but wanted to report this as soon as I figured out what it was.
