Total money lost $499
Type of a scam Other
I was under the impression I was contacting someone from my school (Art Institute) about my loans. And they said I qualified for some student loan forgiveness after I made a few payments. They said the combined payments were like $550 but if I paid them in one go it’d be reduced, and I fell for it. But instead of $450, they charged me $499 which is when I realized I was duped. Though obviously I should have known when they asked for payments over the phone. They got into the Fsa id and have my Social number, so I’d since changed that and canceled my card, and the money is in limbo and changed all the info on my Fsa id and I can’t dispute for some reason.
This was the information they had given me. The 866 number didn’t work, which I should have taken as a red flag
