Type of a scam Debt Collections
These people have been harassing me since Feb 13, 2018 stating that they are contacting me on behalf of a creditor I owe. These people have not only called me repeatedly but have also called my parents. They have stated that they are going to sue me and I will go to jail if I do t settle the debt. Yesterday they wanted me to pay three hundred dollars and said if I didn’t do so they would serve me with papers and I would have to pay four thousand dollars. I asked them to mail me a statement showing what I owe. The man in the phone was very mean, hateful, and threatening on the phone. He stated they had already sent me one which they had not. I asked for their address and they refused to give it to me. Yesterday I received a call from a lady that stated she was a mediator for them and I needed to settle the debt. This time I gave her my email and asked her to email a statement of what I owe. As of yet I have still not received anything, I have called the state attorneys office as well as the FTC and I have filed complaints. I know my rights and these tactics are ridiculous. I was so upset yesterday that my heart started racing. Threatening to have me arrested is ridiculous. Also what reputable company calls you to schedule a time for you to be served with papers. This treatment of consumers has got to stop. I blocked their numbers from calling me yet on my call history I have multiple missed calls from them. This is so ridiculous. My question is how are these people getting away with harassing people. I need help with this matter. Please help me. I’m tired of being threatened and harassed. There is no reason someone from this company should be threatening me with jail, court or anything else. I would also like to note that the supposed mediator yesterday asked me did I call the FTC and I told her yes I did. She apologize for the man that w[censored]eful yet she asked me to pay money over the phone and kept badgering me asking me if I was lying. I have also contacted my local police department and they’d are aware of this matter.
