Apple Support: Brice Baker and Sam

Curtis –

Victim Location 80210

Total money lost $1,900

Type of a scam Tech Support

My daughter googled "Apple Support", and called the first number that came up: 1-877-743-3651. They asked for her Apple ID and password (which she now knows she should never give out) and he told her there were 3 unauthorized users using her account in PA and they currently had access to all of her personal data. To "solve" the problem she needed to buy a $100 I-Tunes gift card and "not to worry" they would refund her I-tunes account for $125. She bought the card and sadly 4 more "google play cards" using my credit card for a total of $1800! Each time they told her they would credit her account for the amount of the gift cards plus $25 for the inconvenience. The scammer, Brice, also threatened her saying he knew where she lived and would "come after her" once she started to question what he was asking her to do. She said she wanted to call me and then he threatened us. Fortunately the only info. she gave out in addition to her Apple ID and password was her email address, the last 4 digits of my credit card and of course he had her phone number. All but her phone number has now been changed. 5 days later, "Sam" called from 1-472-195-2589 saying he was from Apple Support and he wanted to have her fill out a form to get her $1800 back. She hung up and blocked all of the #’s but will probably continue to get calls for a while.
