Type of a scam Tech Support

Typed in computer browser mistakenly, Continental Airlines. Red Alert message came on computer screen with phone number to call, warning of virus/malicious malware/spyware. Message said to call: (805) 225-8171. I called the number and Asian speaking male, said he needed remote access, it was allowed, then he began asking for money for security system to protect my computer. I told him, NO. He then offered, "We at Apple Computer Technical Support won’t charge $800.00 like other companies. It will only cost $200.00. Again, I said, NO. He then offered, "I will come out of my own pocket and pay half of the fee just to protect your computer." Again, I said, NO. His voice inflection was becoming frustrated. He asked if I had paid any bills over the internet, and I said, NEVER. He then again offered to pay out of his own pocket to help protect my computer from virus. I said, NO. He ended the call. I called AT&T and spoke with them about virus protection and explained the issue, a wonderful Ms. Anna Maria explained and confirmed that it was an attempt to scam me with banking information, which I would have to have given him for any payments.
