Total money lost $8

Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

I received an email stating that my resume was found on indeed and had been approved by the Human Resources department at Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield for work from home employment. The salary was $35/hour plus benefits. Then I was sent a check for close to $4,000 and told to use the money to set up my home office. I was told to send them a copy of my bank deposit slip and then I would start training for the position. When I told them I didn’t want to draw funds from the check until it cleared my bank, they sent another email assuring the check was good and that I needed to purchase software from their authorized dealer immediately. Something seemed suspicious so I alerted my bank. It turns out the check was fraudulent. I’m out $8 for depositing a bad check but I could have been out $3,964 had I proceeded as instructed.
