Total money lost $3,000
Type of a scam Travel/Vacations
We responded to a direct mail solicitation to attend an informational meeting re travel services. Responders were promised to airline tickets anywhere in the US for those who attended but bought nothing. Unfortunately, we bought in and paid more than $3,000. On our first attempt to use American Travel to make reservations for a week’s vacation in xxxxxxx USA, American Travel’s agent was unable to find for us accommodations. In the meantime, my health has worsened to the point that international travel is no longer an option for us. We tried to contact the company to ask for a partial refund of our purchase price. For that letter contact, we used the only physical address we had–501 Silverside Drive, #94, Wilmington, DE 19809. We received no reply. American Travel claimed to be A+ rated with the BBB.
