Said they wanted to buy my car off of Craigslist but really they were asking me to fill out a vehicle history report and then steal my credit card info from a faulty website.

Type of a scam Online Purchase

I posted my car on craigslist for sale. Got a text message: Is there a day this week that works for you that I can come check it out? Will you please get me a report from http://validusacars.com so I can see that your automobile has clean history, before I come out to check it out? I asked where he lived and he replied about 30 minutes away. I asked if I ordered this special report he was a serious buyer, and he responded yes – he has had his eyes on a car like mine and he really liked it. I purchased the report and asked him what is email address was to send it and there was no reply. Then I asked for his name and there was no reply. Then I typed hello? and there was no reply so I got suspicious and searched google for this business and saw nothing. So then I checked ScamPulse.com and saw this was a scam typically done in this situation, so I immediately called the credit card company and cancelled my card and said this was a fraud charge so they would not pay these scammers. Lesson learned! Report said not much other than the vehicle specs from the department of transportation.
