his ‘business’ called my wife about a supposed unpaid medical bill (of which we have been up to date on ALL bills). I called them to figure out what this bill was. They ask for standard information to validate identity, Name of patient, DOB, then address. This is where it got strange. They told me the address was incorrect, so I gave an older address. Also incorrect. I asked if there was an issue with the number of the address. Nope, the road was incorrect for each.
I did, however, have the option to validate with last 4 digits of SSN (not gonna happen for a random scam call). I asked if the call could have been made by mistake and was told that this was ‘impossible,’ and that I could check the bill if I just gave this information. Keeping in mind that I have already been told that 2 addresses (5 years worth of addresses) are incorrect, which dates this ‘procedure’ back to 2013 or earlier, and then I’m told that our bill is 13 days past due.
Our bill from over 5 years ago was due 13 days ago. Nice try, but you’re not getting a cent.
Note: Add in the poorly made ‘mymedicalme.com’ payment portal that they told me to go to, and the scam was pretty much confirmed.
