I received a phone call from Amazon saying that a charge of $350.00 had been received on my account. If I did not make the charge I was to call 346-787-3022. I made the call and the person said they were from Amazon. They said there was recent charge of $350.00 for an I phone. I did not make the purchase. They said they could return the money to me. They told me to type an address in the address bar on the computer. This took me to a page, they installed some software on my computer. They had a receipt for this purchase. They told me to type in $350.00 in a box on a pngage. When I did the amount changed to $35,000. They said I had to return a portion of this money immediately. I sent gift cards for $4,000.00 They crashed my computer and it would not start.

I received a missed call and called directly back. The man, he had a thick accent and sounded like he was in a call center, said that he was from Amazon and that someone in Idaho was trying to charge an iPhone to my Amazon account and wanted me to confirm I didn’t approve the purchase. I confirmed. He then said he needed to send me to their "security" department or something to give me a refund. I told him I’m already logged into my account at this moment and don’t see anything. I kept questioning him about everything, I asked how come Amazon didn’t send me an email alert or something, he started getting upset and being more forceful, insisting that he needs to send me over to the "security" thing for them to give me the refund in just a few minutes. I knew it was all a scam, so I played along. He then told me to turn on my computer and go to a web address. I made him spell it out for me: www.anydesk.com. Once I confirmed that information, I told him that I wasn’t giving anyone access to my personal computer and that this was a scam. He hung up on me. I just got a call from "Amazon" spoofing my a number with my area code and the first 3 digits of my own phone number. A recorded (illegal) half-speed robot voice told me my Prime membership expired and was about to auto-renew for $119.99 and if I wanted to cancel or renew I need to press one.

I hung up, because: a) I’ve had Prime for years and they’ve never called; b) that’s not how much I pay for Prime; c) I pay month-to-month, so there’s no expiration or auto-renewal situation on my account.

The recorded call stated that "Your Amazon Account has been charged or is trying to be charged $720 for an item. Push a number to receive more information." I listened but was totally aware that it was a scam call. I hung up. I called the number used which was 402-440-2033. It is a legitmate number in this locality. I believe the persons’ number has been ‘spoofed’ as we say. I left the information that the phone number was being used as a scam number, so they would know. Please shut this operation down. Thank you. The scammer would have attempted to steal identity and money, however, that was not allowed, due to my knowledge of devious operations. I am familiar with some other persons having a similar phone call and pushing the next line, because of fear of an account misuse. I am a victim, in that my phone was called, I am not a victim of theft, because I stopped the possibility.

On August 7, a package was delivered to my old address from Amazon. The current owners contacted me. The package was addressed to my father, who had passed away in 2005. Through my many calls to Amazon today, they were able to tell me that this order – which was a fishing hat and a laptop screen protector – was ordered through my deceased father’s Amazon account on August 5th, 2020. No one has used or had access to this account, and his last order, per Amazon was 2003. I could only find out the last 4 numbers of the credit card on this account, but I know that all my father’s accounts were closed at the time of his death. There was no other identifying information on the package other than it being in an Amazon bag. No return address, no tags on the merchandise, nothing. I believe this could fall under the Brushing scam that I read about on your website. Is there anything I can do about this?

Started on June 26,2020. I called Amazon about charges on my account in the amount of $540. Didn’t realize a scammer picked up under the real amazon number. Ricky Bell was the name used. He said he would take care of this. He rung up and called me back, not realizing it was from a different number also I received a text saying landline the number was 337-632-7779. He explained that he was going to delete all the charges and credit me back. He gave me the accounts he had, which was my banking account. He asked if I have the app on my phone, which I did, he told me to click on it and I would see all the charges including a transaction that was showing up the same day June 26. So I believed he was telling the truth. Than I saw a red symbol come into my phone than I saw something moving, than I realized he had taken control of my phone. I ask him what he was doing, than I received an email on my phone from Western Union. By than he had pulled all my contacts files and information from my device. The email was a western union transfer from me going to a Yina Viviana Acros Jimenez, Country Colombia expected Foreign Country payout location was Colombia. Now, I’ve been tracked even up to today. I also found out that someone recently created an account under my Cox account, which I had no idea. So, now I realized how they was tracking me through Cox.com. They been controlling my internet, Wifi, blue tooth, and phones through Cox.com. Everything was in my phone, including my social security number, passwords etc. This has been so stressful. I did a report to the local police dept, Fbi, an d Federal Trade Comm. With everything that’s going on, its hard to reach anyone. They have been spoofing my number. Not able to get calls from people in my contact or they redirecting the calls.

Where it talked about brushing, and that are no registered cases in Southern Alberta. Sadly I was a target for this type of scam a couple of times: I have been sent 2 packages, at different times (One, a set of speakers, ad the second, some Bluetooth earplugs).

I woke up to 4 email confirmations from Amazon for 4 chairs worth $200 each that I did not place. I went on my account and wasn’t able to see the orders (I later learned that the orders were archived so that they could not be easily found). I contacted Amazon immediately to have the orders cancelled (they could see the orders on their end). The orders were getting shipped to my home address, and my credit card was used (both saved on my Amazon account). I recently heard on CBC Eye Opener that this is called a brushing scam. Companies do this so that you are a verified purchaser for their product, so that they can leave really good reviews for their product to help their business, even though the actual product was getting shipped to my address. I no longer store my shipping address or credit card information on Amazon. I changed my credit card number and my Amazon account password.

I was trying to help out my mother because she does not bank online, so I was going to just give her back the money after they transferred the money to my account. The scammer gets on and has you download the software. They have you type in information on a form to get a transaction #. They have you pull up the bank account and watch you put in the passwords. They then will have you go to another form called Amazon money portal. Claim they have to do it this way because it is business to personal account. Then they have you type in amounts and then the scammer key strokes over the top of it. They do not have you put in any decimals (so they can keep adding zeros to the end). They then try to claim it was your error and they will try to help you fix it. Luckily I had stalled enough times that the bank had actually closed and the transaction was going to happen the next day. I then realized that the money was transferred from my credit card attached to the account to my checking. So the money that showed in my checking account actually came from my own credit card.

I did not do my research soon enough, and I did not ask my mother enough questions, and I was not patient enough to write their information down and tell them I would get back to the. Luckily, I got the payment stopped, called the fraud department at the bank, and called the local sheriff.

Wished I had done research first.

Received a call via cell phone that was automated stating that a charge of over $500.00 was charged to my amazon for a phone purchase and to please contact them at their number if there was any dispute. As a shopper of amazon.com I checked the Amazon customer service number and called but due to covid 19 it referred me to email or check orders. So I called the number they originally called me from and when I mentioned I called the real amazon customer service number they hung up on me.

Message left on phone, to call regarding cancelling prime channels. (Which I did do in March). The phone number to call is 1-229-299-5375. So I called thinking there might be one that didn’t get cancelled. Was told by a man named Michael that I was charged $39.99 a month? last month for prime channels. Said I had cancelled that. Was then on the phone with a Mark Johnson. In talking to him he said he could refund me, but I had to download the Team viewer app, which I couldn’t find in the app store for my Amazon tablet! I was disconnected. I called back and asked for Mark Johbson. He came on the phone again and I heard a dog barking in the background! So I knew something wasn’t right. I did find team viewer in Google play but couldn’t get it (thankfully). I got a email from Google about suspicious activity! It showed a sign in from a Asus Nexus 7 (2012) and another from me. I changed my Google password and my Amazon password. Apparently they had accessed Amazon to get the information, my phone number, and the fact that I cancelled my prime channels.

They were after my card number for the supposed refund! They didn’t get it. Told them I would be reporting them to the "Real Amazon". He said go ahead and hung up. I have not been able to get in touch with Amazon. So reporting this to you.

This guy was foreign and stated his name was Steve Johnson. I noticed that my husband had allowed this guy that said he was from Amazon to connect to his computer. I took over and asked the guy why he had to get on our computer and he said to refund the purchase and that he was from Amazon. I told him that Amazon didn’t do this and why did he need to get in the computer. He got mad and started talking to my husband and not me. He asked my husband to fill out the amazon form he had brought up on the computer. I told my husband not to do anything while I call my office to see if an amazon scam had been reported and once I talked to them I cut off the computer but the man was still on speaker phone and he was so mad. My husband called them back after I told him he had been scammed and the same guy answered the phone. Did what was instructed and gave them the info off the back of those cards.had already spent 4 hours on the phone with them in hopes that doing this will help recover the lost money from amazon. gave them access to account info to help replace lost money. they sent 1,000 which was too much money. told them to take back the add’l money and only give back what was lost from account so i wouldn’t be liable for extra money giving. the next day more money was missing from my account. called amazon customer service and while on the phone with them, the same guy called back using an amazon customer care number. clicked over and he was requesting more gift cards, stating the kroger server crashed and he will need to go back in and get another set of gift cards.

I received a phone call from someone who left a message saying he was with Amazon and my account had been compromised, and I should not make any purchases or transactions until I talked to the Amazon technician at the help line. I did return the call to 917-677-5725.. When I returned the call, he answered "Amazon" and said someone had purchased a Samsung Galaxy 5 for $349 on my account, and was calling to see if I had made that purchase (which I did not make). He correctly told me the last purchase I had made before that on my Amazon account. He said he would delete the charge for the phone and I should not order anything else from Amazon until I allowed him to straighten the account out. He told me he would put a freeze on my Amazon account so no one else could make an unauthorized purchase on it. I asked him several questions to verify he was with Amazon, and he answered them correctly, but did laugh at me because I was being so careful. I don’t see well, so told him I would wait until a family member was at my home so we could call and allow him to make the necessary changes to get my Amazon account back where I could use it. She was here today and we called the number..917-677-5725. He asked her to go to a website where HE COULD ACCESS my computer. He asked her to put in my name and gave her a security number to use. Fortunately, the security number was invalid, and she got suspicious and called Amazon at a number (from Amazon’s website) I had used in the past for various reasons. AMAZON confirmed that 917-677-5725 was not a customer service number to their company, and also said Amazon would NEVER call a customer unless the customer had called them first to help resolve a problem. So she hung up the phone and the scammer never got access to my computer. Customer Service at Amazon (the real Amazon) said there was never a freeze on my account, and confirmed no unauthorized purchases had been made on it. I am thankful for this outcome, and thankful that I lost no money in this scammer’s lies. The "real" Amazon agent said he would report that incident and phone number to Amazon’s security department.

He said I needed a web security engineer and that he could connect me to one. He said it was Way Logistics and would cost $150. and would be a one time fix. I told him my college age grandson would be home soon and I would talk to him. Could he give me a number for my grandson to call and talk to Ways Logistic and he said no, they only worked for Amazon. I called the number (above); to a very busy call center and was prompted to download the Teamviewer app. I was unable to properly process a complaint directly through Teamviewers website; they only seem to want to assist the paying clients, which are the scammers in this case and probably many more! Had they used a less legit name, I would not have! Amazon claimed this type of thing happens a lot, but did nothing to try and identify the scammers.

Someone reportedly from Amazon called to verify an order placed in Pennsylvania for an i-phone 11. When I said that nobody from here placed the order, they said they would cancel it and somebody must have gotten my Amazon card info. They then offered to help "protect" my Amazon account so that only I could use it. To do this they requested that I go to my computer and they would walk me through the process. Obviously they were trying to access my computer. Told them that I didn’t have time for this right now so they offered to call back another day. I then called the number they had given me and got a very generic "leave a message" with no mention of Amazon.

Phone call inquiry of asking if I attempted to buy a $700 IPhone on my Amazon acct. When I stated "No", they said the purchase had been blocked because someone was using my IP address in another state to log into my Amazon acct. They said that they needed to fix the problem, and asked if I was near my computer. Wanted me to log on, and they could fix it. I stated that it wasn’t convenient for me right now and I requested a return phone call in a couple hours. In the meantime, I call Amazon, they said they saw no attempt to buy an IPhone, and there was no reference of any phone calls to me. They suggested that I change my password. A couple hours later, get another phone call, directly mentioning about someone using my IP address to make a purchase, no mention of Amazon or IPhone this time. I mention that I had several IP’s and inquired to which one was being used. They wouldn’t reply, but wanted me to log into my computer. Phone call ended.

I received an email that seemed to be an Amazon.com message saying an order had been shipped. I made no such order and it was supposedly shipped to someone in another state that I didn’t know. A phone # was included to call if I didn’t agree with the message. I called the number and the person on the other end claimed to be an Amazon tech who could check into this. They wanted gift cards to do this. They said The charged for the gift cards for this service would be refunded. I purchased a few of these gift cards and submitted them, bet each time they wanted me to buy more of them. I don’t know if they plan to refund it or not. I have since checked my Amazon account and found no item had been purchased for the person in question per the email I had received that triggered this.

It all started when I just wanted to push back a payment till I got my next paycheck. I called amazon number listed on the internet 1 888 737 4485. I thought they sounded fishy because i was out money on my amazon account for that my account was under a red flag. Beinh under a red flag was also the reason they couldn’t push the date back. My wife grabbed the number what I thought was the real Amazon number 1 877 225 9020. So we hung up on the first guy. With this number they said I talked to a Steven 1 855 446 [email protected] 9891 claiming to be from Seattle wa. I was told that a Robert Wilson hacked my account. So it all sounded to be the same thing going on.Then my wife looked at the account. Sure enough charges were on our account through our credit union. The guy said he could reimburse me for the charges that Robert Wilson made. I would just need to get a google play card put 100 dollars on it.I got one thinking that it would get credited to my account. I thought that he was just using this for a verification reason on my location. After that was given to him he asked for 480 dollars. I told him that I don’t have that type of money in my account. I started getting mad at him and my wife said, now just wait this all makes sense now if this gets loaded immediately into our account we can bounce a check and get the 480 so we did. Then he said that the guy was new and messed up it was supposed to be 500 dollars more before we can get the money. My wife said just do it get it over with. I said no after walking into walmart to bounce another check. I went in and saw for no reason ever give a pre paid card over the phone. That’s when I took completely over. I told him just give me the money that I gave you to do this transaction. I did my part and I still didn’t see anything on his end. I said that I cant do that not will I give him any more money. He got mad at me then hung up. 580 dollars of prepaid cards out from that and 280 dollars from what they did on Amazon on my account. Plus they locked me out of the account, so I called to cancel that account and cancelled all my cards. Called the police and google play. Google play said they are a victim in this too. I gave them my Google play card information to see if they know who claimed it.

People called and said they were Amazon and that we had some purchases on our account they thought were fraudulant with the debit cards on there. I questioned them several times about wondering if they were really from Amazon but they seemed to know how to answer the questions just right. They took remote access of my computer and after I gave them my son’s debit card numbers, CVV numbers, and exp numbers they said they were going to cancel the transactions that had already taken place. They first went to Western Union and tried twice to put in a money order and then they went to Card Cash and tried to purchase a Nordhams card. They then said the credit card on the account had something wrong also. I asked if it was my Amazon card and they said it was the other one on there. I started to give them that card’s numbers and then thought this doesn’t seem right. I said no and they got very upset and said they were done and hung up. I then called Amazon right away and they said that they would never take remote access of a computer and that they hadn’t called. I called Western Union and got the account they made taken down and both my son’s called their debit card companies to report their cards as stolen.

Found a car for sale on Facebook and contacted seller who then had me send my email cause they said they were at work. Then was contacted through email. Seller asked for my name and address so that they could give my information to Amazon to show that I was interested in the vehicle. (They said that the car is being sold through Amazon for safety reasons) I was then sent a invoice from “Amazon” with all the vehicle information as will as payment method and a phone number to call. I called and they said that it was Amazon support and walked me through the process and how it would go. Then I bought Amazon gift cards and gave the numbers to them over the Phone. (Yes I know big red flags right there) I was just excited about the car and didn’t look far enough in to this. Once I gave them the card info they had me take a picture and attach it to the email and send it. They said it was to show proof of purchase. DO NOT send a picture of any receipts. They do it so when question they have picture proof they they purchased the cards. I lost 1400 dollars in this scam.

I received a voicemail on Tuesday, November 27th, at 3:01 p.m. PST from phone number (815) 334-7384. It sounds like a prerecorded message. The voicemail transcribes as follows:

Hi this is Sarah with AmazonRecruiter.org. We need people in your area to work with Amazon from home. Starting pay is $27.50 an hour. Sign up at AmazonRecruiter.org. That’s AmazonRecruiter.org.

I almost picked up, and I have just recently moved to Nevada and I recognized the 815 area code as being from McHenry County, Illinois, which is right next door to where I was previously living. I thought it might have been a friend from back home. I was lucky that I didn’t answer.

When I checked my voicemail, I was immediately suspicious for several reasons. First, the promise of a starting salary at almost $30 an hour is pretty obviously too good to be true. Intuition Ali, I actually have done some job searching on the legit Amazon employment site, including even some work from home positions, so I know for an absolute fact that AmazonRecruiter.org is NOT an actual Amazon website. They would never have a .org site. I decided didn’t do some additional research and take precautions, and therefore I was not victimized by this scam, only targeting, I worry that other people may not have the same luck and end up losing money or worse.

I have attached a screenshot of the visual voicemail below. I also have an audio file of the voicemail available if desired.

It said it was going to be sent to a San Antonio, Texas address, yet I live in Oklahoma. At the bottom it said "this is an automated generated email, please do not respond. If you did not order this please call 708-762-9347." I called the number and was helped by an Alex Rose. He told me the order was for a Microsoft Surface Pro computer. I told him I did not make the order and did not recognize the address. He said that in order for this to not happen again he would need to gain access to my computer to set up a firewall of some sort. I told him I did not want that, I just needed the order to be canceled. He kept pushing saying I needed to cooperate with him or I would be charged the $1827.26. I kept refusing. I later looked up an older Amazon email and the email address did not match theirs nor their customer service number. When I called that Amazon customer service number and gave them the order number they said they could not find it in their system.

The person on the other end of the line, who identified herself as Gazz, said that due to hackers, my dad’s Amazon account has been locked and that he needed to go to a store to get a code to unlock it. The person insisted on staying on the phone with him as he drove to Dollar General, which he did. Once in the parking lot of Dollar General, the person started talking to him about buying a $100 or $200 gift card and giving her the numbers from the card. This is the second time I get this call and they state that Amazon is hiring 23 people this month and the hourly pay ranges from $17 to $32 an hour. It also states to please register today at Amazongigs.org. It states that they saw my resume online. I placed it there about 10 years ago and I am currently employed. Just posting to see if this can be investigated. I do have their voice message on my phone.

Hopefully, these people can get a job at Amazon.

I received an email from Amazon saying my order and payment of $1,843 had been received. The email contained a link for me to click on. I never ordered anything or submitted that type of payment. I called Amazon who told me it was a scam where they want me to click on the link to get personal info from me. DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINK

A call from "Sarah" was left on my voicemail. She requested I sign up online for the same thing, a job with Amazon listing products online from home offering pay off$17-$32 per hour. The website was stockretail.org. I went back in my voicemail to attach the message and it was gone with no trace of it anywhere. Beware this scammer seems intelligent.

This is a link that was sent to my phone via text. It goes to show a position for amazon with good pay, work from home. And ask for additional information which is where I stopped and closed the website.

I received a call on 9/18/2018 which I did not answer, as it was from a number in North Dakota that I did not recognize (I live in Wisconsin). The message they left was offering a job working for Amazon posting reviews and products. They claimed the job paid between $17-$33 an hour. I was told to visit amazoncash.org and apply. I did not visit the site as this appeared to be an apparent scam attempt.

I don’t have a resume posted online and I have seen that amazon is a dot com website not dot org. I do not believe this is legit.

I contacted who I thought was Amazon by phone about a product I was interested in purchasing. I called the number 866-281-0333. As a was speaking to the "Amazon" representative another person came on the line and said that were were on a three way call with Amazon. That person identified himself as a Mr. David D. Miller and offered to sell me a security system for my computer. I told him no but somehow he gained access to my computer anyway. He kept asking me if I did any online banking and what type of websites I liked to visit. I He put these little green locks all over my desktop and now I can no longer use my computer. They are now calling me and threatening legal action if I don’t pay them $1500 for the software they installed on my computer.

This morning I received an e-mail from Amazon thanking me for purchasing an expensive chandelier with a delivery address in England.

I hit reply and sent them a return e mail telling them that I had not purchased anything from Amazon. Upon closer examination I saw there was a special button to click if this was not my order. I decided NOT to press the button and just figured it was some kind of a scam.

Type of a scam Online Purchase

An online buyer posted a vehicle for sale using Amazon. Amazon’s instructions and the buyer informed us that after we purchase and send proof of purchase of the 3 iTunes cards at 500.00 each that they would ship the vehicle to our home at the buyers expense.

After we sent proof of purchase, they now say that we have to pony up an additional 1000.00 to ship the vehicle. This was not part of the original deal, so we asked to cancel the deal since the shipment is advertised as at the buyer’s expense, and now it has changed. Amazon is now saying that we will lose 65% of the 1500.00 if we cancel.

This is a pure rip off, and we want all of our money back.
