Type of a scam Vanity Award Scam
My business received an email claiming I was selected as the winner for the best of 2020 business awards in the Auto Body category. This is the first time I have ever heard of the Albuquerque Awards Program. As I continued to read the award description it did state that if I wanted the awards plaque to display in my business I had to purchase it! This awards program talks about "small businesses" and local businesses but when I checked their previous "winners" I only found generic titles like American Red Cross, Intuit, Microsoft, Shell Gas station and other chain businesses all over the US except NM! The following text is what I copied from their website:
The Albuquerque Award Program was established to recognize the best of local businesses in our community. Our organization works exclusively with local business owners, trade groups, professional associations and other business advertising and marketing groups. Our mission is to recognize the small business community’s contributions to the U.S. economy.
The email I received was from Pauline Mendoza
