Type of a scam Utility
Received a call from a man named Alex Medina saying he was a technician from AEP TX & that our electric meter was outdated &, because no one had replied to attempts at contact, it would be removed today, leaving our church without power. He gave me a work order # & said I needed to contact a rep at 877-223-2046. He stated that a certified letter was sent & was signed for by Beth Tatum. I knew then that something was wrong. Beth Tatum is a retired Pastor from our church, she left here in 2017. I immediately looked up the phone # for AEP customer service & it didn’t match the # he gave. I called the legitimate # & spoke with a rep who confirmed that there are no work orders for our church & that all our meters are up to date.
