Received call from man claiming to be with Publisher’s Clearing House, claiming I’d won $5 million and instructing me to call back to a 518 area code phone number about fees I would need to remit to claim my prize. Left return VM for caller. Became suspicious, contacted Better Business Bureau to ask advice. ScamPulse.com advised that PCH does not notify winners in this manner, that legitimate contests / sweepstakes do not require winners to pay money to claim their winnings, and that this is a fairly common scam. Advised that I cut off further communication with this person.
