You will have to call western union on their toll free number 800-325-6000 and let them know you sent money to a friend and they need to activate the money so that your friend can collect the money. If you tell them you are sending the money to a friend, they will activate the money at once, but if you let them know you are sending the money to purchase something online, then they will not activate the transfer because you will be required to pay extra for the transfer charge. they will ask you to pay $70 more. but if you inform them you are sending the money to a friend, they will just activate the money without any problem.
