Type of a scam Credit Cards

My restaurant received a fax from 844-715-1479 from "Tommy Porten" claiming to want to put a catering order for 150 people for his dad’s birthday. Our Event Coordinator emailed him, he placed a $3,409.88 order, and then said he would be using a private carrier service. He then sent an email asking if we could add $1,750 to the order to pay the private carrier because the service didn’t use credit cards. He wanted us to charge his card for both the catering and the carrier service and pay the private carrier via Western Union or Money-gram. I told him we couldn’t do that but we could deliver it ourselves for a small fee and he stopped correspondence. After googling "catering scam houston" apparently this is common, and the person gives a stolen or fake card that bounces weeks later after they’ve made off with the $1750.
