Type of a scam Bank/Credit Card Company Imposter Scam
I have been receiving numerous phone calls from different phone numbers. Just recently from a restricted number. When I pressed 1 to speak to someone I spoke to someone that sounded like he was in a call center. Which was a huge hint this was a scam. Just like the numerous other numbers that have called me. I asked him what address they’ve had he said 3113 something I couldn’t understand him Atlanta GA. I asked him how he got my number and he didn’t speak for a long time. When I asked him if they were accredited with the Better Business Bureau he asked me if I was going to file a complaint! I again asked him if he was accredited and he proceeded to ignore me. I didn’t ask him why he calls on different phone numbers with his going to be "Card Member Services" company. He again ignored me and then hung up. They don’t call from Atlanta GA, I have numbers from TX, IL, WI, all over the states. All the same saying "Hello, this is Card Member Services, you have been selected to lower your interest rate this is the last time we will call. (Which is a lie). if you owe more than $10,000 in credit card debt we can lower your interest rate immediately. Press 1 to speak to a representative." Why would they feel they need to call on so many different numbers, a restricted number that I just received today, if you were a legit company!
don’t bother going on the Do Not Call list because it seems like they find your phone number and call you constantly!

When questioned which card he represented the man with an Asian accent named every major credit card and again asked for the type of card and the account number for whatever card I was trying to lower payments on.. When asked what company he works for he said Card member Services. When asked for his name he asked me why I wanted to know. I told him that I was reporting this as a scam. He raised his voice and said " Go ahead, report me to the FBI…have good luck, ARE YOU GETTING ME??"

Received an automated call from (440) 444-1893 claiming they can see I’ve been making consistent payments on my Visa, Mastercard, or American Express, and offered me 0% interest if I have more than $3,000 in debt. Press 1 for an agent.
When I pressed 1, I was connected to a large congested call center live person. When I asked them the name of their company, the person said they were the Head of Card Member Services. I asked what card they were calling about, and they repeated exactly what the automated message said, and asked if that was correct. I then asked them again what was their company name and he said he was the Head of Card Member Services.
I advised them I am on the National DNC registry and to never call me again.

I decided to actually ask some questions today, after being called 3-4 times a week for the last year or more. He said he was calling from California, so I asked why he had a local area code. He told me their phones automatically dial from a list and uses random numbers. Putting 2 and 2 together, their calling system fakes local numbers for a higher success of answers to their calls. The calls are also made automatically from a list of people, pressing 1 takes you directly to a live person, since these calls are made automatically and they hang up as soon as they catch on that you’re privy to their scam, there is a very low chance of being placed on any sort of "do not call" list. It’s purely predatory, aiming at the elderly or uninformed, and there is no way to get these calls to actually stop, since it generates a new phone number every call.

I regularly get telephone calls from "Card Member Services" offering reduced interest rates on one’s credit cards. The calling number is always different and many times uses the same area code as mine (559). The auto voice says if interested in lowering your credit card rate, press 1; to no longer receive these calls press 2. Several times, I press 2, but the calls keep coming. The last two times I pressed 1 and spoke with a live person (sounded like English was a second language) and asked for information about the company. The only information provided is from where the phone call came (this time it was New York, but with a Central California prefix); last time it was from Atlanta). After asking to speak to the person’s manager, he hung up. I have filed a complaint with the FTC, in hopes that enough complaints will lead them to track down the operators of this scam and bring civil and criminal claims against them.
I do block the call number, but I always get called from a different phone number.

I received an initial phone call today from 9178056376 at 11:09am with the offers to save an annual credit card savings of $2500 and that the apr would be less than 6%. I expressed interest because my current APR is over 20% with a large balance. The caller told me I would be receiving a call in 15 minutes. I then received a call from 9178051944 at 11:37pm discussing the details of the offer. Unfortunately after giving my personal identification information(examples, date of birth, ss#), he then told me about a $1199 charge and quoted me a new increased balance. I then became suspicious and told the caller I was no longer interested but the caller told me it was too late that the transaction would be processed and that I would receive a new card via mail. I was placed on hold and transferred to what I perceived was a third-party, Colonial Financial Group who stated it was not responsible for what was told to me previously. I then called Discover Card to report this experience therefore it listed as of today that the current card is lost and stolen and that a new card would be sent via fedex. Today, I signed up with Norton Lifelock due to this unfortunate experience.

Started as a Robocall and had been receiving several calls over many days, never leave a message, so today I answered as caller ID number was extremely similar to my health providers various numbers (800-972-7600 was caller ID number) which they later advised I wouldn’t be able to call them back on as it was a random robocall number. Proceeded to state I was ‘selected’ due to good credit card payment status & was pre-qualified for a 0% interest on Mastercard/Visa/Discover/American Express cards balances and push 1 if interested. So I did knowing a real person would come on line. They claimed to be calling from the Health Center for Card Member Services Co. They had my name and address correct, but told me it was about my Mastercard & Visa credit cards. Which I have neither. Wanted to know what cc I use most and the balance, which I refused to give and told them I believed they were scammer. First person I spoke with ‘Rachel Lewis’ did not know how to respond and connected me to ‘manager (ha) Mark Wilson’. They were persistent with questions about me (which I replied ‘you called me’ and I had no intention of affirming, then asked where they obtained their info & they quickly replied ‘three credit bureaus/companies recommended me…Experian, Trans Union & AcroFax for this promotion…they were just needing to qualify correct card/bank/details, etc.’ Wanted to know my cc balance as it needed to be over $2k. Refused, then lied and said needed to speak with husband and requested call back number, which they gave 888-552-2089 as company #. TOTAL SCAM…Went online and read they had previously been closed down for similar scamming.

I did one time get an actual call-back number however I couldnt write it down, honestly expecting them to hang up at that point. These scammers in particular seem more willing to stay on the line with you if you feel the need to try and do some "counter-phishing" to get more info on them. That is of course if you choose your answers carefully and not give away any real personal info. WILL NOT HONOR ANY REQUESTS TO BE REMOVED FROM CALL LISTS.

I asked her outright, “are you telling me your company stole this info from Facebook and/or the internet?” She said “yes” and started saying she was drunk, that her boyfriend broke up with her that morning and she stole my info “because she wanted it!” I was disgusted and hung up. He said a legal aid counselor would call me back and begin the process and see if I would be relieved of all or some of my debt. In the meantime, I looked up the name, and saw that it was a scam. The call came at 1pm today, I was at work. I’ve gotten calls from them before, an automated call asking if I want to lower my credit interest or something like that. And the number has the same prefix as my number, strangely enough. Press 1 if you want to be connected to a clerk. This time I pressed 1 because I’m like that.
I talked to "Alex" who asked if I wanted to lower the interest of my Visa or Mastercard. I played along, saying "How bout all of them – which do you want? " He asked me which I want to use. I said my Discover card. How much is used on it? I told him $**K or so. So he wants to lower my interest rate. I’m told they have my name and address already, but they won’t read it back to me. Although I was called Mr.____ my actual last name. Early on in this conversation I asked where he was from. He said Florida. I asked why I was called by a number in my same area code? He said he was forwarded this call from someone there. Hmm. Ok, what is your address? He said 461 Ackerfeld Ave #125, Long Beach, CA 90805. I checked it out on the internet and didn’t see anything that matched that.
He got frustrated and handed me off to a Divisional Manager or something. John Love. I basically went thru the same dialogue with him.
I went thru 3 callers, all with strong Indian (or something unamerican) accents. I asked John the name of the company. He said Card Member Services. I googled it while we spoke. There is a cardmember services, but they don’t do what John says they do.
I was asked for the 16 digit number on my Discover. I wouldn’t give to them, although I was up front the whole time, asking "why would you ask somebody for their full credit card data?" They insisted they were trying to help my lower my interest. I told them nobody but the Credit Card company can do that. "No sir, they don’t want to lower your interest, they are making money off you." Well I said, "Ok please give me your address and phone number so I can check this out more thoroughly and if it is legit I will contact you. "I’m sorry sir, I can’t do that."
Round and round and round. I had to hang up eventually. I stopped having fun. But to think these guys are getting personal credit card data from those who aren’t as skeptical. Ugh.

Sadly, the scammers calling my cell phone AND house phone seem to be multiple times on a daily basis.
Be aware, and NEVER give your credit card numbers out to anyone who calls YOU, then asks for them! Call the company back on a known number, or one off your statement.
Today, I decided to take the local "unknown number" phone call, request to speak with someone, get a company name, and a phone number out of this person, then lead him on as though I was going to give him all my information. He told me the company was Card Member Services (I’ve already heard this a TON of times from other callers). He told me he would pull up my information on one credit card, to reduce my interest rate to 5%. I did not have a credit card in front of me, but gave him a made-up expiration date. He then asked me for the credit card numbers, starting with the first four. He asked me to read slowly and clearly so he could understand. I told him he was a scammer, no way was I going to give him my numbers, and he was going to go to hell for what he was doing.
He told me "[censored] you!"
I started laughing as though I were mad, then hung up on him.
I should have given him made-up numbers for a card, too, to waste his time….
By the way, I called the phone number he gave me, a few minutes after I hung up, and I heard this message… "Your call cannot be completed as dialed. Please check the number and dial again. 826." I guess he made up some numbers, as well!
Again, be aware, and NEVER give your numbers out to anyone who calls YOU, then asks for them!

The guy said he was from “Card Member Services” and that they serviced multiple different banks and couldn’t name them. I asked many times for the bank name that he worked for and he refused to tell me and just kept saying there were too many to name. He said the only way he could tell me anything is if I gave him my information. He wanted my name, credit card information, and social security number for security purposes. When I kept asking questions, he got angry and even though he was trying to give the impression that he was professional and legit, you could hear the agitation in his voice. He finally said that the call may have been meant for another family member living in the house with me (even though they called a cell phone with a brand new phone number). I lied and told him I had an elderly mother but I handle her business and asked if I just needed to give him all of her information. He said that would be fine as long as she just said it was ok. I continued asking questions about which bank his company services and he kept refusing to name even one bank. This is a horrible scam and I googled it and it’s all over the internet. A guy named "Kenneth" who says he works for card member services keeps calling me (from a different phone number every time) offering to lower my interest rate. I thought he was legitimate at first because he named off all of the cards I have, was aware I had high balances, high interest rates, pays more than the minimum amount due, and never pays late. He said he could lower my interest rate on all my cards if I just provide him with the last 4 digits of any one of my cards and the expiration date. He also asked how do I spell my name and that’s when I thought he might not be legitimate. I advised him that I didn’t have a card on me at that time and to call back on Saturday. He said he doesn’t work weekends and that he would call back on Monday. In the meantime, I have contacted two credit card issuers who advised me they did not call me or authorize the lower rate he is offering and there is no card member services for "all" cards. But this guy has way to much information about my credit cards, my phone number, my name, and who knows what else. I won’t answer any more calls and he is excessively persistent about calling. He has called from all (614)#’s: 877-1331, 875-2273, 876-7746, 877-6566, 875-2285, 875-8371, 876-4547, 877-6033, 875-7075, 875-7295, 876-3357, 876-1958, 875-5749, 877-6438, & 877-3532. I don’t know if he has my home address or if he knows where I work.

Caller stated they could lower the interest rates on any/all Visa, MasterCard, Discover cards with a balance over 3,000 dollars. Stated they received their information on my eligibility from my Experian credit report. Then they asked for my, credit card number, last 4 numbers of SSN, Billing Zip, and DOB. First it was Johny Garcia, Employee #BBA2424, he said he was located in Atlanta, GA. He had a middle eastern accent. He was able to pull up statements and provide balance, last payment date, amount, next payment due date, amount. Then he needed my DOB to pull up my next cc statement. I said no, i wanted to speak to his supervisor. His name was Justin Reed, employer #CS33242, he was able to pull my 2d cc statement without my DOB, when i asked why he could do it and Johny couldnt, he stated because he is Johny’s supervisor. Then he asked for a 3d credit card number, which i provided. Justin kept asking for cc numbers until I declined and then I was told they were unable to help because I could/would not provide additional credit cards with available balances to prove my creditworthiness to the cc companies in order to ask them to give me a ZERO percent interest rate. When I continued to ask why, and said i wanted to speak to hid supervisor, he got smart and told me to call "TRUMP" to get him fired. Then i was transferred to Ray Han, Employee number CA2111, he said i am Justin Reeds supervisor. I said i dont see what good its going to do to complain about Justin Reeds customer service skills, and Ray Han told me i was harassing them and then he hung up on me. I immediately tried to call back to the number Johny gave, 800-897-2911 and it was a congratulations you won a Caribbean vacation. I then called the number from which i was originally called from 256-348-0046. this number can no longer receive calls. I immediately notified and cancelled the 3 credit cards, put a fraud alert on all 3 credit bureaus, called my bank, and now a scam alert.

On May 15, 2017 I received over 8 calls from multiple numbers, some I’ve mentioned above. I finally pick up to tell them to take off list. The said they were with cardmember services and that I had been selected to receive a reduction in my interest-rate’s on my credit cards because I pay my bills on time and when I do I pay more than the minimum balance due. Oh and my credit score is high. ( this concerned me that they knew this sort of detail info. I questioned which credit card company they were and they replied they work for all various companies. They wanted my credit card number so they could look at my account and see what percent of interest I was paying and then be able to tell me what I qualified for in order to get a lower percentage rate possibly 5% . Red flags were going up for myself and as I continued on the call I explain to them that I don’t see how a credit card company would pay this card member services to reduce the interest, as the interest is what credit card my companies make their money with. The representative stated she could tell that I was hesitant and was a good consumer because there are so many scams around etc… She told me that I had received a letter from my credit card company Citibank 90 days to go with this offer and that there had been no reply and today’s the last day that this offer is available. I proceeded to tell them that I was driving and I would need to be call them back or they could call me back later. In reality I wanted to get off the phone and do a little research. Of course when I tried that all of a sudden male and supervisor speaking middle eastern language to first person jumped into the conversation and was using all kinds of typical sales techniques to keep me on the phone and to tell me that once I hang up the excess the offer expires. I finally just said I’m done. At that point he asked if he could call me back a few hrs later. I called my credit card company and they informed me this was most likely a scam and to please e mail their fraud department, which I did. I saw info online and decided to send this. It makes me so made as I work with many older people who fall for these scams. I asked for their web site so I could go check things out and I got some lame answer as to why I couldn’t. Anyway hope this helps stop these people.

Called identifying herself from card member services. Stating that I had $19000.00 in debt and that she was there to help me lower my interest rates. She kept requesting I give her my credit card account numbers for the debt, which I refused. She stated that that was the only way she could check my bills to give me the lowest interest rates on each one and that giving her my account number would verify who I am. I refused and hung up. A half hour later, her alleged supervisor called back stating that she was monitoring the call and heard me refuse. She tried to assure me that it was no reason to refuse, because she know that I am on a fixed income and she wants to help me. She told me to go get my credit cards and come back and read the account numbers to her. I sensed that something still was no right. I contacted my credit 800 numbers who verified that they do not offer lower interest rates that way.

My cell phone rang, caller ID said "Ladue, MO." I answered it and it was a ROBOCALL – recording telling me this was the third and final time that "Card member Services" would be calling to offer me a lower interest rate. It said to click to speak with a live operator. I did so and a female answered "Cardmember Services" right away. She spoke in a heavy, Indian accent and said she could lower the interest rate on "all" my credit cards and then named everything from Visa to Discover. I asked how can she do that if she’s not with MY credit card company? She said she needed my personal credit card information for each card that I wanted lowered. I laughed. I said, "Where are you located, India?" She immediately hung up.

I would like to notify the ScamPulse.com of this phone number: 1-800-492-9168, who called my cell phone this morning. I spoke with my credit card holder, Wells Fargo, and they are not affiliated with "Card Member Services". I researched online this phone number as well as "Card Member Services" and found that this is a SCAM operation. I’m certain ScamPulse.com is aware of situations like this, however, I want to make my own personal complaint. The woman who called identified herself being "Card Member Services". She wanted to know any balances that I have on credit cards. I informed her that this was not her business. She said, ‘oh, yes, it is, because you signed up for this. I will have to report this to the credit bureaus.’ I’m not a typical senior; I’m an educated person, a retired teacher, and am cognizant of scam operators. This "representative" was threatening when she said that it was her business, and that she would have to report it the credit bureaus. What can be done about these people who are likely scamming some seniors in the USA? Oh, by the way, when I tried to call this number back, it was busy every time I tried the number!

I received a call today from a business named Card Member Services. They said they could lower the interest rate on all of my credit cards. I asked how they could do that and why not just go through the credit card company. The individual who identified himself as Seth Davis (he clearly had a middle eastern accent) said they work with all credit card companies to provide this service, and even send out all the bills for all the credit card companies. He asked for my credit card number. I gave him a number from a credit card that had been cancelled due to fraudulent charges. I asked him for his call back number. He kept asking for more information. I asked him to call back in 10 minutes. I hung up and called my credit card company and they told me the call I had received was definitely fraud and to report it to the BBB.
