Angela Morris posted in a Facebook group about Comcast hiring for work from home positions and asked to be inboxed via messenger if interested. The scammer inboxed back and asked if I had the hangouts app, I downloaded it and was provided a code to give to a "John Ennis", the hiring manager at Comcast." After I provided the code to John Ennis, I received the messages via the Hangouts app.

Comcast $15 bucks an hour training and $25.00 per hour job working from home. Wants you to provide a credit card or a bank account WITH YOU PERSONAL LOGIN AND PASSWORD. Stated that comcast provided funds to employees to purchase equipment to work form home. Terrible grammar and punctuation. www.facebook.com/haryorni.omotoye (orginal facebook post) and [email protected] (hangouts interview) were contacts. Hiring manager was supposedly Michael Sheffield of Comcast.

I have been getting calls for a year from 256-716 numbers. My phone number (landline) starts with 256-716, so I know it is a scam. One time I answered and they were giving away a free medical alert bracelet (which I do not need), but you had to give a credit card number to pay a monthly fee. So I made up a number and they said it was not legitimate. Oh well, I tried. This is getting old!

I was scammed out of $600. The scammer said he was from "Comcast". Calling his phone number: 800-934-6489 gives a response identical to the real Comcast. He called for a few weeks to gain my confidence. Then he said I need "Google Internet Security" and told me to buy Google Play cards. I scraped off the cover and put them on my scanner so he could see the numbers. He also gained access to my computer, with my permission. Then he changed my passwords. I shut down the computer and took it to Geek Squad to have it fixed.

I have received numerous messages on my answering service saying "they are Comcast (cable) and even thought I have no trouble with my service, they need to gain access to my home to see what equipment I have." I called our local Comcast service provider and was told that they are not sending anyone out and the phone number is not associated to them.
They have left me 2 to 3 messages per day trying to gain access. They are also contacting my mother so It maybe a new scam.

Phone call, Caller ID showed "COMCAST". First call answered out of curiosity, remainder of calls did not answer. Male with foreign accent, difficult to understand. Stated my computer was sending Comcast a security warning. Had never heard of this, and seemed very unlikely. If true, it would take half of COMCAST’s workforce to address "security warnings" from the tens of millions of computers it services. Was already sitting at my computer, so again out of curiosity, checked my Norton and no alerts or difficulties of any kind, told the caller this curious what his answer would be. Caller wanted me to click the Windows key, click or type "RUN" and type in (couldn’t understand what he was saying next). As soon as the word "RUN" was said, knew this was for sure a scam, told the caller I knew this was a scam and remove my number from their call list.
Scary part is wondering if the scammers have information that a malicious file is already on my computer, otherwise what good would instructing to RUN a file do (unless it would be automatically downloaded from the internet?) Also scary that there would be those that would follow the caller’s instructions, not knowing that Caller ID can be faked. See BBB article that just the fact that I answered one of the calls could unfortunately put my phone number on a phone number "Sucker List".

Called with very bad English, saying my internet speed suggests there is an issue and a technician needs to come and check. Kept asking if I could hear them. Connection was very bad. I asked to speak to someone else. Another man got on the phone and tried to tell me about my internet connection at home with Comcast. He kept asking if I could hear him. I ended up disconnecting, telling them that they never clarified who they were trying to reach and how I don’t have Comcast services. Asked them to remove my number from their list and disconnected.

This phone # was listed on the Internet for Comcast Customer Service. The person who answered the phone seemed totally legit. I gave my name, social security #, and age during the sign up for a new account. I was given a confirmation # and was told the account information would me emailed to me immediately. There was no email to follow. I called Comcast the next day (using another number) and they said there was no record of me signing up for a new account! It was a scam. The original number, when called now, just rings and rings. This person has my personal information! Beware of this number!!!

Typical "can you hear me" call trying to get you to say yes and then they claim to be from Comcast asking questions about your account to gain more personal info. Do not answer any questions. Verified with Comcast that this is not a valid corporate number or authorized call.

I received this email, and for some reason, just the way it was delivered and the the way the page looked, it put up some red flags in my head. I started clicking on the bottom of the mail where it appeared to have links, but none of the links were working. Also, I thought that it was odd that if Xfinity was contacting me, than why would the person asking for my email address and password have an earthlink.net email address???
I did not fill my email address and password into the allotted space, so I do not know what would happen if I did. Wanted you to be aware.

This number has called me often on for the past 2 to 3 weeks. I finally answered and was asked if I am a current Comcast customer, if I am over the age of 18, and if I work for Comcast. I said yes to a few of the questions and no to others, they used my voice recording to authorize credit card purchases immediately after I hung up the phone due to suspicion. I was charged $32.13 under "COMCAST". I do have Comcast Xfinity service but my credit card bill is typically charged under a longer Comcast name so I knew it was fraudulent. I called and canceled my credit card through Bank of America and they are aware of the same situation from other customers.

Got a call that my caller ID said was out of California. The man on the other end had a thick accent and said he was calling from Comcast with an offer. I know that Comcast does not make these kinds of calls, and this guy was clearly going to be phishing for information. I hung up.

I believe a Comcast employee sold or used my personal information (including my social) to open fraudulent accounts. I Rec’d a collections notice From unpaid Comcast bills in my name, but attached to an account I did not open. Since I already had an open account, this should have been obvious to them that this wasn’t legal, and other means of identification should have been used, but clearly, none were. There are numerous reports online of Comcast employees either selling or personally using current customers socials and info to do this. I want Comcast to take responsibility and start protecting their customers from this type of activity.

I received a phone call with phone ID listed as Comcast. I was told that Comcast was doing a promotion in conjunction with Amazon gift cards to promote the Amazon cards. Comcast would lower my monthly rate by 50% per month for the next two years but I had to prepay the first 8 months by purchasing an Amazon gift card for $240 (8 months times the new low rate of $29/ month). After I purchased the Amazon card I was to call888 406 8604 ext. 1, give them the code from the gift card and the promotion code CX4589. After I hung up from the call I called Comcast to confirm the legitimacy of the promotion and was told by the real Comcast that this was a scam.

I copied a link from a verified Edx class, Harvard CS50, and in the pre-course survey it talked about LaunchCode. I wanted more information about it so I copied Perlaunchcode.org from the survey and pasted it into the address bar in Firefox. It looked like it was going to go the the site but then took me to the scam site. It said that Comcast had detected suspicious activity and to please call the toll-free number so that a certified tech could fix it. They said that if I did just about anything with my computer I would be putting my computer at risk.

A man, supposedly from Comcast, called me yesterday in the afternoon (855-793-7671 ext 707) & stated they were offering a rewards program for $79.99 a month for 24 months. I gave him all my information: SSN, mother’s maiden, credit no., etc.; confirmation no. 1279113. He said that I would have all the programs: TV, internet and telephone.
Later, I worried about the matter so I called Comcast and was told they do not have such a program. I called all the credit bureaus to put in a 90 day fraud alert.
So far there has been no info regarding using my personal info to open credit cards, etc.

I had a missed phone call and voicemail from 1-800-266-2278. The voicemail said it was someone from Comcast calling because they couldn’t reach me about my appointment. I never set an appointment with Comcast, nor do I have their service. I did a Google search of the number and found that other people reported it as a scam (see http://www.unknownphone.com/search.php?num=18002662278).

Received call from a person with a heavy accent stating they are from Comcast and had a special where if I paid $480 up front then I would be covered for 6 months, then the price would be $80 per month for a two year contract. My wife told me to call the number we have for Comcast. I did call and they said that the person was not calling from a Comcast number.
