Type of a scam Online Purchase

Our dog just died and my wife really wanted to look for another companion and she found the website www.companionmaltesepups.com with a beautiful teacup maltese for sale for $500. everything agreed and on 7/21/2020, my wife used Chase quickpay Zelle to pay $300 deposit and the $200 balance would be paid upon receipt of the puppy. the next day, 7/22/2020 the person named Jerry Oslen called my wife asking for another $1300 for "shipping fee". I googled the phone number and it came back as confirmed/listed SCAM from the website www.IPATA.ORG

I called Chase bank and was told that the $300 could NOT be recovered. Considered it’s lost.
