Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
I live in Tennessee area code 615.I Posted a keyboard for sale on Craigslist for $300.00 I got a text within 20 minutes from Micheal James 307-240-2332 the buyer said he wanted to buy the keyboard and would pay an extra &100.00 if I would remove the ad from Craigslist so I did. Then he wanted to know if a cashier check would be ok I said yes then he texted me he would add shipping fees to the check for his shipper to pick it up.He kept saying he would send a tracking number when he sent the check this took a few days.So when I finally got the check it was for $1,800.00 made out from Nova Interiors Construction & Consulting LLC Nyack, NY on Valley National Bank Tenafly New Jersey. The letter with the check came from Falkville Alabama.The letter was from Scott William who said you are to text this number 210-501-1513 with my name the amount of the check and check number and also my phone number.After I sent this information to him he gave me instructions to deposit the check in my account and take out $400.00 for the keyboard and a extra $50.00 for my troubles he said to send the rest of CASH via Walmart to Walmart to his shipper Breanna Forester in Falkville Alabama 35622.I got suspicious of this and read about scams on the BBB website on fake cashier checks and put a stop on this before it went any further.
