Type of a scam Debt Collections
Was threatened with a lawsuit for an old charged off, sold credit card account. Was pushed into settling, was told that this was my only opportunity to settle the debt. Once settlement arrangements had been made, I started to get suspicious and contacted the credit card company. Neither HSBC nor Capitol One had information on me. When I called back to ask questions, they were rude and refused to provide me with information I requested about the original debt and collection efforts. They also told me if I reversed the charges they would sue me for breach of contract. One representative was belittling and told me to use this as a learning experience and said that someone with common sense wouldn’t have signed the document (the document that he threatened to sue me for breach of contract over). I searched for this business online and cannot find them anywhere. I think they are also using a bogus "delivery service" to say they’ve been to your house to deliver papers. I believe that this was a scare tactic and I unfortunately fell for it. I tried to call the number to the delivery service but it’s just a recording of advertisements for cell phone services, satellite tv, dating sites and such.
