On Nov.25,2019, we had a message on our phone from BBB,allegedly. It was stated that the govt. was doing refunds from the US Treasury for scams from cybercrimes that we may have had. We were instructed to call this number concerning this.It was 680-666-1178.Of course,we did not call it. The call said it was coming from Seneca Falls,NY. Again, the number that they called from was 315-745-2636.

A lady called stating she was with the ScamPulse.com and wanted to speak to the owner of a business we had several years ago. I asked what I could help her with and she said she wanted to update information in the system. I quickly stated the business hasn’t been in business for approximately 3 years and she started stuttering and said oh ok, and stated she would make note….and hung up.

Email, purportedly, from the Better Business Bureau advising of a complaint against our company … they just address it to "Business Owner". No phone numbers, addresses … only a link to click to see the complaint. I did not click on it, but that is the lure to get someone to click the link.

I was contacted by someone on the phone claiming to be from the Better Business Bureau, stating they we had been scammed by a computer tech business in the past and they were going to give me a refund. I was very skeptical but did do what they asked me to do on my laptop. They would tell me that it was illegal for them to take control of my computer but I could see the mouse moving around to do commands, when I asked them about this they said it was an automated program by Microsoft. While I was talking to them I got on my tablet and typed in Google "Better Business Bureau scam my computer tech". It did come up so while I was talking to this man I took the battery out of my laptop and told him that our conversation was done that I checked and found out I was being scammed. He asked me if I had touched my computer, when he realized he no longer had control over my computer he told me it was to late that they had already gotten all my passwords & info they needed from my computer. I hung up the phone and immediately called our bank putting a stop on any internet access to our account. I was advised to come down and close all accounts, get new atm & credit cards. Also to have my computer checked for malicious software they had added. What a pain, but I was the stupid one who let them have remote access to my laptop. Now I have to set all new passwords. On my computer.

Type of a scam Credit Cards

I received a call from somebody claiming to be with the ScamPulse.com. They gave a name, but I wasn’t able to understand, as the connection was very poor. He informed me that one of my cards (without providing any portion of the card number) had been charged over $500 from overseas. The person called me from two phones, the numbers being 650-731-7844 and 844-850-9552. With him still on the line, I checked my accounts on my bank’s website and advised him that I didn’t see any charge; his excuse was that the charges had not been authorized yet. I took time during the call to look up scams like this, and lo and behold, there is a report on the BBB website detailing situations like mine to a T. I told him that I suspected that he was scamming me and asked him to provide proof that he wasn’t. In response, he ended the call.

I called him back at both numbers several times and managed to reach him. When I introduced myself, he hung up. I believe his direct number is 650-731-7844.

Consumer received a call from a person who stated they worked for the BBB and the phone number came up as it was registered to the Federal Government. They are unsure as to if it was a man or a woman, it did not appear that English was their first language.

Woman with perhaps an Indian accent claimed to be from the BBB regarding a new law regarding a "Flat Rate Fee" for credit card transactions. When asked why someone from Atlantic City, NJ is calling rather than our local office she said "they’re handling the territory". She then asked for email address and full name – I hung up.

I then tried to contact the local BBB number but no one picked up and I was disconnected.

When the number was searched on Google, there were multiple claims of the number as a known scam number.

I received a call from David Sears, who stated that he is with the ScamPulse.com and that won 555,000 and a car and all I had to do was pay a 1% luxury tax. He then my supervisor Bob Walters will be calling with more information. We then ended the call. I received a call from David Sears again, this time he stated he was with Publishers Clearing House. He said that I won 555,000 and a new car and he wanted to ask me some questions. He then asked for my phone number and address. I asked for what, he said to bring me my money. He said he would call back. I then received a call from Bob Walter (who sounded just like David). Bob Walters stated the same thing and that I needed to pay the luxury tax. They stated it was 1% but wanted 2500. I said I can afford that, they dropped it to 700. I told them I cannot afford it. David has called numerous times to try to collect the money.
