Type of a scam Online Purchase
The website ordered from, I cannot remember if it was something I saw through Facebook or just an online website. But it was USA based, and was for a $4.95 sample. It didn’t say anything about a subscription. (There are legit sample/subscription offers with legit companies and I’m ok with that because I just call and cancel within the designated time.) This sample arrived in 2 weeks, and there was no invoice slip with it. The info is on a shipping label similar to the one on the outside of the box.
The label has a ship from address, and email, my addr, an order #, ref no# and date. Then the sample description. There’s no official company logo invoice with customer service number or anything. I thought it odd, so I logged onto my credit card and noticed 3 transactions that said ‘SPECIALSKIN’ and ‘PROSKIN’.. so called the credit card company. Only at this time did I have a phone number. The email on the label does not work and bounces back. It was [email protected] The phone numbers the credit card company provided were 203-318-2198 (Specialskin) which was NOT IN SERVICE, and the other was 203-514-2759 (Proskin) which sounds like a cell# and rings then goes to an automated voicemail.
