I was contacted regarding a car I’m selling and asked for a vin report through this website. When I offered to provide a carfax report instead I never heard back. I fear it may be a vin scam to get my credit card info.

This is a Craigslist scam where the scammer is not really interested in your scam. Just tried to get you to click on random VIN link to steal your credit info. Then they say they really want to buy your car.
