Type of a scam Phishing
I received a phone call from an alleged Sgt. Gary Myller from the Ada County Sheriff’s office, ID# I-784 (Phone number 208-252-9665) informing me that there is a warrant out for my arrest for failure to appear for federal grand jury. I shared with him that I knew nothing about this. Supposedly an Honorable Judge Nancy Baskin. He then proceeded to describe an elaborate "Process of Alleviation" to correct this which was so complex as to be unbelievable. He said the fine would be $2990 for three misdemeanors plus handling fees. After an extensive discussion I told him I would take my chances and hung up. I then called a friend of mine, an officer with the Boise Police Department and he assured me this was a common scam. During the call I could hear quite a bit of background noise like others talking to people on the phone, like a mill. I spoke with him about 5 PM and he referred to it as being 3 PM where he was which would have put him in the middle of the Pacific Ocean!
