Type of a scam Tech Support
A "Microsoft" pop-up and voice stated my computer had been hacked; warned me not to turn off my computer or I would lose all my data; instructed me to call "Microsoft Tech Support" at 877-408-7275. "Tom" answered and represented himself as a Microsoft IT Tech. He directed me through steps to give him access to my computer. He stated I needed a more secure "Microsoft Security System" and gathered my credit card information to process the required $199 fee. "Tom" also requested my cell phone number in case we were disconnected and gave me his direct line, 800-824-9153, which ends up being the number to a company called, CompuTech. My credit card and paypal records indicate the $199 fee for the enhanced "Microsoft Security Package" was processed to an individual by the name of Virender Singh with a company going by the name of Albion Computer; email address [email protected]; will show on credit card as PAYPAL *ALBIONCOMPU.
