received a pop up from ‘microsoft’ that my pc had been hacked and was locked, to call 855-840-3329 immediately.
called number and was convinced that my pc had been hacked and my personal info could be compromised.
I allowed them to access my pc (laptop) to fix it, it was running very slow and would not let me close it or do anything with it. I authorized them to fix it and charge 199.00 to a credit card for fixing it and for 3 years of McAfee anti-virus plus protection. (My anti virus had expired). I contacted Microsoft and the explained they to not send emails or have pop ups advising you have been hack or your pc has been compromised. I am not certain that this was a scam but it sure sounds like it and I would like for it to be investigated.
