Total money lost $500

Type of a scam Other

My husband has been looking for a dachshund puppy for months. He found a website on the computer that looked legitimate and had lots of pictures of dogs for sale. After several back and forth e-mails I was told that the dog was available for $400.00 plus $100.00 for the flight to send her here to Colorado. There was a list of several items that would come with the puppy including an airline approved crate. They requested the money be sent through Zelle. the e-mail for payment was different the original e-mail so I should have been wary then. After they received the money they contacted me the next morning and said the shipper would be in contact. An e-mail came from Multi Pet Express Ltd. which informed me that I need to rent/buy a thermal electronic crate for $985.00. They said after we received the puppy they would bring "cash or a check" to refund the money for the crate. At this point I knew we had been scammed and when I told them so that was the end of any communication with them. Neither company answers phone calls either.
