Recently I began using a legitimate website called Ancestry.com to do research on my family history. The website will introduce you to other members who may share information related to your family tree. Adam Kaniper’s name kept coming up. When I contacted him, he explained that he was a geneologist doing research for other clients and could not share his information. However he indicated I should check out his website and I could hire him to do research. While he was not a geneologist recommended by Ancestry.com, I thought that since he had already done research related to my family (or so he claimed) it would be worthwhile to hire him to do a series of projects for me. He took our conversation out of the members only messaging on Ancestry.com and we emailed and spoke on our personal emails and phones. (This has made it difficult to get him removed from Ancestry.com) We made an arrangement and I sent him money via paypal to do 40 hours of research. He sent me one small piece of false information and then "disappeared." He did no work. He stopped returning my repeated emails and phone calls. I had a friend call him pretending to be interested in his business. He called her back immediately. He is a fraud.
