Type of a scam Tech Support

When re-setting my roku, I was given a code and a web address to enter it in. When I typed the address into my computer, I clicked on the first site that said ***, and there was a box to enter the code. When I entered it, I got a message that something went wrong, and was given a phone number to call (1 800 922-2038). When I called , the man who answered (he had an Indian accent) asked me some questions, showed me some data which he said showed that my internet had been hacked, and eventually took remote control of my computer without asking or telling me first. When I asked him directly if he worked for ***, he said he did. He then offered to fix all the problems and secure my computer from future attacks, for about 200 dollars. I refused to give him my credit card number; he continued to press me, and I told him I’d have to talk to my husband first. He agreed to call me back. I quickly called my son, who confirmed that this was a scam. The man called back a few minutes later, continued to tell me that my computer wouldn’t work unless I gave him my credit card number and allowed him to fix it. I refused, and hung up. Upon further investigation, I found that his website was not affiliated with ***; because it had a box to enter the number *** gave me, I thought it was.
