Type of a scam Employment

I contacted by a woman about a work from home job. She gave me two options I choose logistics. She then call me for an interview. She call me the day I said I can work. She emailed me with an assignment of researching logistics companies around me. I did the assignment and sent it in. She then said she would contact me with another assignment. After a couple of days she sent an email stating that there is a client who is going to send in a check to my address. To gain the company’s trust I have to deposit that check into my bank and take my commission. I thought about that for about an hour thinking what I have gotten myself into. She then called me asking if I got her email I told her that I can’t do it. She try to convince me that she know I have never done anything like that but I have to do it. I kept telling her I can’t but she kept insisting that I have to do it. She then told me that she would call me the next day to see why I at about the situation. I didn’t receive a call but she emailed me that the client have already sent the check and sent in a tracking number. I emailed her back that I’m still not going to do it. She emailed me that if I don’t do it there is going to be a penalty. I searched online to see if there a more people and I found a Facebook page about how they have been scammed by the same people. One of the people to me that there was also a man who used the same name as the woman. A check came to my mail today but I’m not going through with it.
