Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

I applied online for a car wrap, with AMP for advertising there product, I received a check and a letter with instructions. The check was issued by YMCA in San Diego, I called the YMCA to find out if this check was legit and it was a fraud check, I confirmed this by calling the YMCA and spoke with someone and she told me not to cash it we didn’t send any checks, I did give her the check number she said they didn’t send the check.

Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

My 13 year old son kept receiving text messages from a man that claimed to be "Kevin from AMP". Asking if my son would like to earn some money. Of course he stated he would. Needless to say my son received a check addressed to his full name and our home address, sent by UPS NEXT DAY AIR. (not cheap) for $2,200.50. "Kevin" began repeatedly texting my son asking if he received the check and when he could deposit it in his account. My son thought this was a joke and kept texting the person back. I discovered the check when I got home. The address listed on the check was an attorney in Alexandria, LA which did not match the return address on the UPS envelope. Called the Attorney’s office and they reported their account had been compromised and were aware there was an issue. Advised not to cash check. (I had already wrote void on it. Did notify the local Police. I am concerned that someone will show up at my property as they have the address and know my son’s name. I tried to contact the number that kept texting my son. Left a VM message and requested a call back. Never received a call back. The person did call my son’s number and attempted to speak with him. I could not understand a word he said and hung up.
