Type of a scam Sweepstakes/Lottery/Prizes
Today, August 27, I got a call from a private number which usually is the "identification" of my doctor. So I picked it up. The guy introduced himself as John Edwards from the Prize Patrol and declared that I had won $850,000 plus $5,000 monthly for life. As I have played Sweepstakes lottery for almost a year now, my first reaction was "WOW!"
Then the guy provided me with a few numbers: package code and claim code. Then he said that I had to purchase a One Vanilla gift card and put $350 on it. When I asked him "what for?" he explained that this amount was necessary to be there for IRS to be able to transfer my monthly awards. To be honest (although I know how scams work and avoided two of them in the past), this time I swallowed the bate. So I purchased the card and gave this guy the number. My mind started to work sharp when he told me that in order to get the prize I have to purchase an American Gold Eagle Stamp for $854.32 and an American Bonding Stamp for $916.55. I refused. So he said the company, which is American Cash Prizes, will pay a thousand and I have to pay remaining $750 which, together with $350, will be reimbursed in 5 days. When I expressed doubts, the guy transferred me to the "Manager" who introduced himself as David Moor, but I realized that the voice and the speech manner were the same. So I "agreed" to follow their instructions and send $750 cash to the address they provided. (Not to mention that the money from the gift card was already gone: a purchase on PayPal for $349.95. They started to call me again non-stop, probably to find out if I sent the money by FedEx. Instead, I called DC police and am now waiting for them to call me back and record my report. Also, I consulted my bank, CVS pharmacy where I bought the card, the Vanilla gift card company and traced the payment from my gift card was made through PayPal. PayPal was not helpful although the transaction was still pending and could easily be stopped.
The phone numbers these guys called me (besides the private one) are: (876) 351-5500 (Jamaica) and (210) 503-1755 (San Antonio, TX).
The mail address they gave me for shipping the money is:
Got a call from a Carl Johnson 8767962253, a Jamaican number. Said he was calling on behalf of PCH from American Cash Rewards. That I won 2.5 million and a Mercedes. Said the UPS would deliver a pkg but I need to register with the post office and pay 399.00 delivery fee for the car. They are scammers. Please don’t fall for this. This guy was very professional and convincing. He knew my address… I did my little investigation as I’m skeptical about everything. I just pray they get caught! Judith
I was left a message from the American Cash Awards & Sweepstakes Company that I had won $5 million and $500 thousand , plus a 2020 Lincoln and $10 thousand a week for life.
It sounded as fake as possible, and left a phone $ to get ahold of another person. How do these people live with themselves?
Called and said I won 7 million dollars and 5,000 a week for life and I old somebody’s 900,000 and some thousand for taxes on it

I was called and told I won 2,500 dollars and his script sounded legit up until he asked how far I was from Walgreens. I asked him which one as we have several in town, but he didn’t answer and just asked again. he wanted a 350$ gift card that said vanilla (I haven’t looked that part up yet) to cover shipping fees for this red envelope he said it was coming in. He also said that I would get a cash bonus of 500$ to cover the gift card price. I finally got off the phone when I said I had to get dressed and I would call him back. The company name is American Cash Awards, and the phone numbers I was given are 929-259-5986 and 717-256-2248. I was given office codes, phone numbers, and tracking codes for my package as well as the choice of a private delivery or televised with a state attorney present.

The caller identified himself as Attorney Jake Anderson. He gave me a package claim number and a prize listed number. He told me I had been placed in a raffle for senior citizens and I won the 2nd prize $850,000, and two shopping gift cards. He also said something about receiving $5,000 monthly. He mentioned a P14 form for the IRS so that they would know how much in taxes should be paid on the prize. He wanted to know if I was over 65 and if I were married. He said American Cash Awards held the raffle with 152 people’s names. I called him back to see if the story would continue, it did. He said the prize would be delivered to me in the form of a cashier’s check. I refused to confirm my address or my age, though I did tell him I was married. While talking to him, I was checking out this organization on the internet. I came to the conclusion this is a scam. I told him so and told him to take my number off his call list and never call us again. I did not give the caller time to request money from me.

This man’s name (supposedly ) is Garfield Wilson. Stated that I had won they are full of $4.5 . He said my name had been published on the internet, and they were calling because I had not claimed my prize. He also stated that he was the Lottery Commissioner. Today is Monday, so this is the first such call this week . Last week I had 3 similar calls. One claimed to be from Publishers Clearing House. I go along till I get all their info, then I laugh and tell them they are full of ****. They acted as though they are so offended . They even throw God into the mix. In this my cost was $1250,00, of which
They would pay 75%. I was to send it FedEx or USPS. This is money would go to the IRS to pay their cost.
They called and said I won 2.5 million, a Mercedes, and $7,000 a week for life. All I had to do was get a $500 Amer Express card for CVS. I can’t believe I fell for this. But I did and after 2 hrs on the phone, they wanted $10,000 before they could deliver my prize. I said no and hung up. Then I checked my Amer Express card and the $500 was gone. The phone number is 806-402-6492 !

A few days ago I was called and informed that I had won 1.5 mil in some International Prize contest. Told them I wasn’t interested and hung up. They called back. I told them to call my local police dept and have them call me. They said fine and asked three times if I had caller ID. They said I’d be able to tell that it was from the police by the caller ID. My neighbor’s teenager had shown me how one can get the caller ID to show any number and identification they wish so I knew that’s what the scammers were going to do. Soon I got a call showing the emergency number in another town through which our town’s emergency calls are routed. The person, with the same accent as the previous callers, tried to say he was from our police dept but he couldn’t pronounce the name of our town. I told them they were busted and to leave me alone. Caller ID said Bronx NY.
Today I got a call from American Cash Awards saying they had 1.5 mil they had been trying to deliver to me but that someone had red flagged my account and cancelled the delivery. I hung up twice and he kept calling back wanting to set up a time to deliver my "prize." I told him I didn’t want anyone coming near where I live and he could set up the delivery at our police dept. He said fine and he’d contact me later with the specific time and date. I’m clearly on some list and I wish I could get them to leave me alone! Caller ID said Brooklyn NY.

American Cash Award called and wanted to speak to my husband. She said he had won 2.5 million dollars and they would make an appointment to bring it to him and would go to the bank and have a certified check okayed to make sure the 2.5 million dollar check was good, and then he would have to pay $795.00 for processing fees She gave me her name ** and telephone no. 876-853-8803. I asked for her bosses no and name,. she gave me **, I doubt if that is his name, and tele # 876-850-6023. It really sounded good. She got agitated when I started asking her questions and said if he did not return the call it would go to charity. If it goes to charity, then who pays the fees?
On 04/24/2020 we received a phone call at 1222 in the afternoon, his name was Benjamin Church. He wanted us to go get a “registration” card, One Vanilla Visa card from Walgreens or CVS. He said they were registered with Homeland Security and would stay on the phone with us until we have the card in hand. He continued to try to get the money out of us until finally he started cussing and told us that he was charging our phone bill this whole time. All of this was after he had called my son 10 minutes before calling me. He obviously was going through the phone numbers because my son and I have the exact phone number with the exception of the last number which is just a couple off from each other.

When I said no he told me he would contact this company to call me to get my money. He had only been calling to inform winners of scammers contacting them to take their winnings. The company called with a number from Nevada and told me again what the man before had discussed and said he would call me again. When I looked up the site I found a facebook page for them, but the logo they are using is from an insurance company in Asia that has been around for 60+ years. Was called on my cell and told I had won 2.5 million and a new ‘19 Mercedes all I had to do was pay $135 at a Walmart to Walmart transfer and I would get some receipt to show the ups driver when he showed up just 3 hrs later. I told him straight up I thought it was a scam and he went so far as to text me 9 picts of the new car I was going to win, one is attached. After that he wanted to know how long it would take me to gather up the funds, I told him about an hour. Here his tone changed a bit, he went from calling me “my friend” to “honey” I didn’t react to it, I should have, it kinda creeped me out, but I just let him ramble on just to see how far it would go. Now I missed my hour call back cause something really did come up so I don’t know what he had lined up from there. Before we got off the phone for the hour it was going to take me, I asked him where his company was located, he said the main office was in Texas and they had other offices in several states including Alabama. (how convenient!) I also asked for the name of the company again and he said “American Cash Awards associated with Publishers Clearing House” that was the first time he had mentioned PCH. So that’s when looked the business up and found the scam info. Oh well, too good to be true!!

Now I’m home and they called again. Mom told him to talk to me and he didn’t want to. He said he would call back in the morning to get the information. I ended up on the phone with him and he told me the same story. I then told him that I had no idea who he was or what the company was and that he needed to take our name and number off their phone list and hung up on him. He called right back and wanted to know why I hung up. Again I told him I didn’t know who he was and wasn’t interested. He told me his name was Alday Davis, 772-617-3123, American Cash Awards. Got a phone call 1/12/19 from Mark Johnson, American Cash Awards stating we won 8.5 Million dollars and a 2019 Mercedes Benz from filling out a form we got in the mail or filling out a form from a grocery store. I was also told it was a Senior sweepstakes of some sort (as we are past a certain age). I know I did not fill out a form and my husband thinks they’re a bunch of bunk, so I know we didn’t fill out any forms. He asked if I remembered filling out the form – I said no. He said he wouldn’t have the form if it hadn’t been filled out and mailed to him. He gave us a winner’s number -the first letter was from my first name, second letter was the beginning of my last name and then gave some numbers and ended it with WI then asked me to repeat the winning number. As he hadn’t said what the first 2 letters were before the numbers I asked him what name he had on the form. He told me it was my husband’s name. He told us we needed to pick up a claim card at Wal-mart, CVS or Walgreens. I asked how it was they had my claim card, but he wasn’t quite clear about that. When I said it was in my husband’s name he said I could tell him MY name and they can change it and give it to me instead. (I don’t think sweepstakes transfer the winner’s and didn’t give him my name – this didn’t please him.) He told me the truck was in my state and could be here this afternoon to give us the certified check. He told me the address they had on file and it was definitely ours. I told him I’d let my husband take care of it, but he wasn’t home. He asked where my husband was and I told him he didn’t need to know anything other than he wasn’t here. He again said I could claim the winnings, but he needed my name to change it from my husband’s so the truck could come today. I again declined. He then said he had given me his name and phone number and was open with me and he wanted my husband’s cell phone number. I did not give it and he started getting upset with me and asked again where he was. I said he was out of town and he didn’t need to know where he was. He told me they wanted to do this today, as the truck with the check was in my state. I told him if we had won that the prize shouldn’t go away simply because my husband wasn’t going to be home at the time they needed. He got more upset and said he was going to call back when he thought my husband would be home and hung up on me. I knew it was a scam, but I wanted him to give out more information so we could stop him — but he didn’t give me enough information for him to be caught. He did have an accent – not sure I can place it though I asked what we had to do to receive this tremendous prize, he wouldn’t say until he got the information he wanted. He didn’t get it, so he didn’t tell me what else we had to do other than to to the store to pick up our claims card. I’m sure there would have been a cost, but he didn’t get that far.

He asked me what I would do with the money. He told me I had to pay a fee because the prize was so large, and there were storage fees on the car and appliances. He said the patrol in NY wouldn’t send the money without me paying the fee. I sent him money through Money Gram about 8 times for a total of $2000. John keeps calling saying I am stressing him out because it’s my fault he hasn’t been able to deliver the prize to me. He was very personal today, asking for my bank info. I received a call from CALLER ID of "Kingston JM 1-876-386-9948" today, August 29, 2018, at 11:53 a.m.
A gentleman named "Micheal Washington from American Cash Awards Sweepstakes Company" called to say that we won an award of $3.5 million and a 2018 Mercedes. The sweepstakes company would be delivering it today to our address. We talked for a little while and I asked questions. I asked him what address was on the award and he stated a P.O. Box 289, which was not our box. I asked what name was on the award and he said Aune Juntenen, who is a relative & she is deceased. "Micheal Washington" proceeded to say there was a sweepstakes check being delivered and he needed to get all the information correct. I eventually declined the award and "Micheal" questioned where to send it if we did not want it. He mentioned a favorite charity to which I replied that Aune had been involved with her church. I asked for his contact information to pass on to her pastor and stated that I would not give him any information about the church. He asked for the name and I stated that I would not give him the name of the church, but I would pass it on to the pastor. The information that "Micheal" gave to me was:

He called back and stated he needed an add’l. $1500, at which point I realized I was being scammed.

I received a call from someone stating his name was Mr. Paul Snyder with the Claimers Department and I had been selected as a 2nd place winner and had won $1,000,000 courtesy from the CVS Pharmacy and Walmart Store. I also won $50,000 bonus cash that should go to my outstanding credit card bills today. Then he asked me to give him a call at 321-401-5434. When I called him back, same person, he said the same thing as the voicemail message he left (which I still have), but said he was with American Cash Award and gave me Reference #RL92940. He kept reminding me about the $50,000 I would receive for my credit card dept. He then asked what my name was, I told him, and then the name of my bank, which I told him, and he said they would be contacting me when the money has been put in my account with the same Ref. #. He indicated this should take about 25 minutes and then I would receive a call. He then asked me again if I had credit card dept and I said no. Needless to say, the conversation was very short and to the point after that. I did NOT give him any bank numbers or credit card numbers. My mother was listening in on our conversation when I called him back. Let’s just say that I have heard nothing, go figure!!!

Received a call from a John Smith Banks from American Cash Awards saying I am the 2nd runner up to winning 2.5 million Sweapstakes Winner. I listened to him for a bit. Then I asked him, how could I receive it? He indicated , it could be publicly or privately…& for each prize I choose. there would be a $250.00 dollar Delivery Fee. Now this guy sounded American. No dialect No foreign person. I told him, I do not have $250.00. He mentioned I could talk to his Manager & they have sponsor programs. He transferred me to Jessica. She explained to me, if I have credit card debt, they could pay them for me, thus freeing up any payments I normally make. I just said, I would find the information & call her back..But, after getting off the phone, I had a really sick feeling. I started googling the company (American Cash Award) & saw how many people fell for their game which is ‘fraud’…Sure wish Law Enforcement would shut down their GAME…

Sounds like same guy called before telling me he was with Publishers Clearing House. When I told him that he said no they don’t call and that he was from American Cash Awards. He had tried to contact us by award letter, etc. I know I had talked to him before because I told him they were fraud before, to take us off his list, and hung up on him. He said we had won some high amount of money, I told him this time if we had won to send us the prize and we would pay him the fee when we received the prize if it was true. He told me I was being blessed by this winning and all the good I could do, etc. Said fee would be 399 and I told him I not have it. He tried to tell me all kinds of ways he could help me with fee, and he not a liar, not do illegal things, etc. He said would never take personal information (bank acct. or credit card) yet said could give accounting my info so they could help pay credit card so I could get fee to them. Finally got him to give me his name and number saying I would call him tomorrow evening (I have no intention of calling). He then ask me what kind and color of vehicle I wanted as it was attached to the prize. I wish this were true as a new vehicle and cash would be nice, but sounds to good to be true.

Someone called my elderly mom’s house claiming she had won some kind of prize. They had a heavy Indian accent so I had trouble understanding all they said. When I asked them to repeat, he got very rude and said "listen to me!". Then he put his "Manager" on the line.
He said we are 2 hours from your house with the prize. Is sounded like it included a car and money. I got a number from him and a name so I could call him back . 1-876-576-3359 and he gave the name Billy Russel. I found several pieces of paper in my mom’s house that had the same or similar number written on it, but they give a different name every time. They have been calling her and saying she needs to get money out of the bank to give them when they come. They even called back to tell us to go get money from Wal-Mart. I am sick of these scammers

My husband received an email letting him know that he won a sweepstakes from Publishers Clearing House/American Cash Awards. The email stated that he could win either a Mercedes or a cash prize. Either way, he was to submit $700 for taxes and other fees such as processing if he wanted to claim his award. I read through the email and thought that it was strange, because the email declared that he was the winner, but I have usually been the one to submit entries to the Publisher’s Clearing House sweepstakes, and the last time that I entered was over a year ago. I received a phone call on one of our cell phones (it is a California number as we are from California) in our home in Michigan. Supposedly I had won $4,800,000 plus an additional $50,000 and a new Class C Mercedez Benz in cherry red, all to be delivered to my home within 45 minutes, as long as I went $120 to satisfy the IRS requirement for winning and delivery of the prizes. I was supposed to go to a place where I could send a money order or money gram and pick up the form, which a Mr. David Washington would give me instructions over the phone on completion of the form. The money had to be in cash and I could not use a check, credit card, or debit card. After the money had been sent Mr, Washington and his crew would be at my home to deliver the money and car. Interestingly enough, at first he asked me if I was at my home in California, and stupidly, I informed him that I didn’t live in CA any longer, that we lived in MI now. He sort of was taken aback, but recovered quickly and changed his pitch to say Michigan in all his further comments. John Washington from the American Cash Awards called me on my home phone and said that I was randomly selected to receive a 2016 Mercedes Benz car and also a check of 955 thousand dollars. He said that he sent a letter to me in the mail about it, although I did not see it. He said that his company was legitimate, that the company was 30 years old, and that the company was owned by Donald Trump. I did not give him any personal or financial information except my email address and I believe he knew my physical address. He said that either someone would deliver the check to me or the check would be sent by UPS or Fed Ex. He said that he would not ask for personal or financial information from me, but that I would have to sign some papers after the check is delivered. The papers had to do with paying less taxes to the IRS through his company instead of through a single individual.
I then called the library and asked them if the American Cash Awards company was a legitimate company. The librarian said that there was a police warning that it was a megamillion phone scam. She also said that it was a rip off, and false sweepstakes.
I then called the company and told them that I wanted to cancel with them. Later John Washington called me and told me that he got my message, and he asked me why am I canceling. I told him that it was personal, that I wanted to cancel, and that he doesn’t have to call me anymore. Then I hung up the phone.

Received a phone call today from James Webber: 876-282-6876 stating that my mother had won an American Cash Award from the Federal Reserve Bank in the amount of 2.5 million dollars. I asked why my mother won this award and I was told because she had shopped at stores that are in their program. He said that he would bring the check to her home along with roses and two bottles of champagne. All she has to do to claim the prize is send $360 to the bank.

I was contacted by phone being told that I had won $800,000.00 from some drawing they held that I supposedly had somehow added a "coupon" at a major store, ie… walmart, 7 11 to name a couple. The phone #702 330 9335
(shows up as Las Vegas), the agent was female, Kimberly Watson, which she ensures you understand that name, in constantly using it in the BS that follows. With her accent you could tell she practiced that name many times. I listened to it all and could almost believe it or just maybe hard to forget in the many times it is repeated. The bottom line is that I am suppose to send by western union the amount of $499.00 to the above # in order to secure a receipt showing payment that the delivery service will need before surrendering the cashiers check. She offers a choice of a private or public delivery in which reporters and a camera crew attends but tries to encourage a private delivery because "money changes people" once they know. Anyhow, the only concern I have is that they indeed had my address and phone number (cell from a different state). Well, since I opted for a public delivery, which happens to be a merchants address (I live temporarily in a RV park) I gotta go and meet the delivery man, reporters and camera crew, and since there is a western union there I will send the 499.00 once I see it all. Yeah right, there will be a deputy in that pic also.

I received a call on my cell phone from a Mr. Dave Fayers of American Cash Awards that I had won a large amount of money, $850000 of which $50000 would be delivered in cash and the $800000 would be by certified check. When I asked how did I win this I was told by paying my bills on time. Then he wanted me to send 3% of the total amount so that the remainder would be tax free. At this point I told him I wanted to talk this over with my husband so got him to hang up. He told me his team had been doing this for 35 years and that I was chosen out of over 2000 entries. I don’t remember even entering anything.

A man with a Jamaican accent claimed that i won $2,000,000 and a car, but i could only receive this if i called a different number and told whoever was on that line a claim number. When i asked for this person’s number as for when he called it said "withheld" on the caller ID so i could report it to the BBB to make sure this was a legit "prize" the person became hesitant and was asking me frequently to just write down the new number and claim code. I then hung up, but then the same number began to constantly call me for a total of eleven hours.
