My Facebook friend texted me saying she got a grant and I should get one too. She told me to call an agent. She says she’s a Federal agent through the Federal Government, Dept of Homeland Security. I was offered a $150,000.00 grant. She told me I couldn’t tell anybody about it. I paid $300 Walmart to Walmart. The police department wouldn’t take a report on the case said I was just out of the money. They need to know more about cybercrime and take reports about it when someone comes in it’s very important that people know about this.

Type of a scam Government Grant

I was contacted by an ex-minister’s wife concerning a Government Grant that I could get for $1000. She did it and got $70,000. I went to Walmart and asked about the cards, where they were. The girl that I talked to said it was a scam and not to do it. I thought if the minister’s wife did it, then it would be okay. I started buying the cards like they said, but I would not give them the information on my phone account, which is in my brother’s name, nor my bank account information. I sent copies of the cards to a David C Damschenn who worked for the Federal Government. Some worked, and the ones that didn’t, I had to buy more. There was something about them sending me a phone and resending it to another address, that I did not do because of the phone account. Every time I turned around, I had to pay for something more, like a clearance fee for the money or something else pertaining to it. The guy kept telling me that I would not have to pay anything else and I would get my money the next day. Supposedly the FBI stopped them because I had not paid all my bills, more money spent. After spending about $2500, I was to get a car and $100,000. He kept insisting that I applied for a car, which I did not, but he would not just let me get my $80,000 that I had originally asked for and not the car which I don’t need. I had to pay $400 clearance fee on the car, not letting me just get the money, but telling me that I signed for a car, and I did not, then they got stopped because I did not do the phone thing so my money was held up, plus the car again. They wanted me to either give them the information on the phone account, or go and buy 3 IPhones, send them to an address that they give you, then I would get what I was entitled to. I did not have the money to buy the phones, nor was I giving them the phone information. I did end up with another guy, Mike, that gave me the same runaround as the first guy did, but I told him the same thing, that I did not have the money to pay anything more or buy anything. He kept telling me that I would not have to pay anything more, the car was paid for and I would get my money. After he kept pressuring me by telling me that I needed to find a way to get the money, like borrow it from someone, which I was not doing, so that I could get the car and money, I finally said that I was done and they could cancel me. When I did send the card pictures, they went to a David Ballinger. When I asked who he was, "Mike" told me that this was an e-mail where the cards went to. I ended up losing $2500, and almost bank rupted myself to the point of not being able to pay my bills. That is what I kept telling them I needed the money for, but they kept pushing me to pay more, so I am done.

I got a call today from Michael w/a slight accent. He said he was with the Federal Government. He said I qualified for a $9000 grant because I pay my taxes on time and have never been in jail, just an upstanding citizen. He asked how I intended to use it, he implied it was to do good, like self-improvement. He wanted me to pay $240 to avoid paying the state taxes. He told me to go to Kroger and buy an eBay card or NetSpend. He’s called back multiple times since then. His associate is Stephanie Johnson. She had no accent at all, she sounded young like a college kid trying to make some money, like she thinks Michael is real and she has a real job. She said she was Michael’s administrative assistant, and that I would be working directly with Michael.

I called to have the number removed, the girl didn’t say anything and then hung up on me. I called back 3 more times for her to hang up on me. When she finally answered again she asked why I kept calling? I told her I wanted to make sure that my number was removed. She hung up again. I called back and got a new person, this time a man. After I told him I wanted my number removed, he said but why. Then continued to argue with me how he wasn’t going to remove my number and why do I keep calling them. He hung up and I called back. He then said they wouldn’t stop calling or remove my number.

A man named Billy Winston called my cell phone saying that the federal government has a grant that I was eligible to receive for $9,000, and the money could be downloaded into my bank account, prepaid card, or wired to me on Tuesday evening. He said, that absolutely no money had to come out of my pocket because it’s free money. He said, because it was close to 8pm, I had to call back the next day to have the money deposited onto my prepaid card. I called on Wednesday like Billy Winston stated to do, and he stated that I had to fill out a registration card for a money gram at Walmart or any place that has money gram, and pay $200, then I will get the $200 back when he sends the $9,000, so $9,200 would get wired to me. My mom said to check with ScamPulse.com before going any further because it sounded like a scam to her because free money doesn’t have any upfront fees to get the money. When I called BBB, they checked the cell phone number that I was initially contacted from: 202-643-0732 and it was a cell phone number not a business number. The other number that he asked me to call him on the next day was: 646-350-6990. ScamPulse.com said that was a New York number not Washington, DC and it was definitely a scam! Beware of these types of calls or emails where people want you to send them money to receive money. When in doubt, it’s always best to check with ScamPulse.com to have a peace of mind before moving forward with something that could cause distress later. Hope my story helps others.

Type of a scam Government Grant

My daughter received a phone call from the "Federal Government" saying she had received a grant for $9000. They just needed her bank account so that they could transfer it. She was given a confirmation number to call, along with an activation code so that the grant was activated. Unfortunately she did give them the bank account number, but not the routing number. Then she called me. This smelled fishy so I did research to sure enough find that it was a scam. The bank was called and put on alert, however, all we can really do is close the account. I did call the number back to see who I would get. It was a man with a very hard to understand accent. I asked several questions to which all I got was they were the Federal Government. I let them know I knew they were scamming people, and I would be reporting them.

I received the below private message from a high school friend:.

***

TUE 1:54PM

Mary: Hello Barbara how are you doing today?

Mary: ??

Me: I’m doing well, Mary. How have you been?

Mary: Am doing wonderfully great and awesome, I’m blessed and so excited

How have you been doing this days ? I hope you are doing good?

Me: Life is good. Things have gotten more challenging as my mom’s Alzheimer’s progresses, but we get through one day at a time and take all the good we can.

Mary: That’s great to hear from you,I was just wondering if you heard anything about Catalog Of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) Grant.?

Me: Never heard of it.

Mary: It’s a new program from the federal government to encourage the empowerment of human right and poverty reduction.

Me: Sounds like a worthwhile endeavor

Mary: They help and support people who are interested in receiving fund for their business and personal use. Are you sure you have not hear about this yet?

Me: I have not, but I’m not likely the target audience.

Mary: You can also apply if you are interested, I can help you with the Agent contact info

Me: I appreciate the offer, but I’m sure there are other folks far more in need. I have a good paying job that would very likely put me beyond the range of those who would qualify for such a grant.

Mary: No that does nothing I also did this and got mine already. You just need to text Mr Steven Calvery now on his text number 765-889-2088 and tell him your full name and let him know you heard of this from me and you will like to apply also

Me: Thank you for the info.

Mary: Just text him now he whey back to you

WED 2:11PM

Mary: Hi

Me: Three questions…

1. How much money did you receive and from whom exactly?

2. How do you know Steven Calvery and why should I trust him with my information?

3. Were there stipulations to receiving the money?

Mary: I got $50,000 for the grant

***

On Mary’s Facebook page, she has not posted anything for several months and has a better command of the English language than the person who messaged me. I have no idea if anyone has lost money to this, but it seems very much like an identity theft in the making.

On 3-6-17 at 1:02 pm I received a call from the scammers stating,"that I’d been selected by the Federal Government to receive a $9,200.00 grant that I never have to pay back. The scammers ask," please verify your name, age and address so we know we’re speaking with the correct person." (The scammers new my name, age and address but never asked for my birthday, or Social Security number) These scammers then ask,"so do you understand why you’re receiving this grant that you never have to pay back?" I the victim of the scam stated ," no I don’t that’s an awful lot of money to be giving away this is very odd." The scammers stated,"you’ve been chosen along with others because you have always paid your taxes, pay your debts/bills on time and you have a clear criminal record". I the victim of the scam stunned at this stated ,"okay so the Federal Government is just giving me this $9,200.00 because I have done these proper things". The scammers stated," yes all you have to do to claim your benefits is tell us how you would like your benefits to be paid to you, it’s 3 simple options to receive your money, it can be sent to Walmart and you can receive it by Money Gram or Western Union, your Bank straight to your account, or your Credit Card". I the victim stated," okay I would like this $9,200.00 sent to Walmart through Money Gram then what do I need to do?" The scammers stated,"okay all you have to do is go to your local Walmart and purchase a one time $200.00 ITunes Gift Card that’s fully refundable, once you purchase the Itunes Gift Card you will give us a call back at this number immediately, you have to do this immediately to receive the $9,200.00 grant. The scammers then gave me a code and a number to call back with the ITunes Gift Card Information an extension to speak with another person in with the scammer. When you call the number the scammers provide you it connects you to a voicemail that says," the Google Subscriber is not available please leave your name and number and someone will get back with you". I realized this was a scam when the scammers requested that I purchase an ITunes Gift Card which I never purchased because I realized from the beginning something wasn’t right with this whole situation.

They have already called me 6 times. Once they said they would send the cash to my door and I would need to sign for it. When I said that I wouldn’t sign for money if I didn’t know where it came from, he said something under his breath about me dying. Really? Is this a money laundering scam? Yet, they continue to call. I had to call back the 2nd number(both said Washington DC) and verify this was true with her supervisor and then I would get it mailed to me. I never gave any info out-she knew my name and the zip code I lived in. I called back and the lady that answered said Hello what do you want/need-I told her I was supposed to call her back. They also gave me a 5 letter/number code to give her. When I said I was supposed to call you-she said oh yea ok give me the code-I did. She was also foreign asking me how I wanted to receive money(no info given again on my part)-very hard to understand but it got to in order to receive this money you need to go online and buy an I Tune gift card and I said I would not do that and she magically disconnected the call. They never called back and neither did I. I only called back because I have been trying to get loans/grant for my kids for college so I wanted to make sure it wasn’t tied into that since they insisted they were the Federal Government.

Got a call stating I was chosen to receive $7000 for not having any felonies and something else, I could barley understand because the person had a very strong accent. I kept asking for verification of said monies and the reason but he kept saying it was coming from the federal government in New York state. He wanted me to go to Walmart then call him back at the number he gave and instructed me to stay on the line as he directs me how to fill out the form and he also asked that I do not mute my phone. Told me to bring my ID and cell. He said I needed to pay 269 which would be refunded right back to me along with the 7000 and that he would stay on the phone until I had said money in hand. No money list because I did not go. Its a scam his name was Cherles Scooper phone number he told me to call back is 347-518-1454. The address he provided was 200 Independence Southwest Ave. Washington DC 20201 triple HHH building. He also gave me a code CH123. PLEASE BEWARE.

i was sent a friend request from an already fb friend. I accepted assuming they started a new account. They then messaged me with small talk and spoke of a gov grant they just received. She gave me contact info to the person to assist me in seeing if i would qualify. i gave minimal information but they said i could get a grant. It was later they asked me to wire them 550.00 and they would send me cash and later would meet with me to form the business plan and put it in motion. I became suspicious and found that my friend had not in fact sent me the fb request. I did not send any money. The name of the person who was supposedly from the fed gov was James Roberts. The address they said to wire the money to via western union was Chanel Adams from Blackwood, NJ 08012. I quit responding. The number they texted me from was 904-373-8023.

Number 202-000-0010 called me multiple times in the last few days. I had already checked and knew it was a scam. Answered one call and before he got any further than federal grant, told him I knew it was a scam and to stop calling me or I would report them. Foreign accent man indeed called multiple times after that so I again answered and told him it was a scam. He assured me that it was not and wanted to let me know I was approved for a federal grant because I paid my taxes on time, my bills on time and have never been arrested. Told him again it was a scam, he gave me a website to check him out and realize it was not a scam. He was going to call me back the next day. I had already submitted a complaint on the do not call registry site. The website he gave me did not exist. When I googled federal grants scams I went to the FTC site and called and reported it again. This was on Tues the 9th. Needless to say they called many times on Wed. Told be FTC agent not to answer or to answer and hang up immediately. I did not let him get into his spiel to hear how much money or details. He wanted to know what to do with my "file". I did not say anything as I wanted to check things out. I wanted to tell him where he could put it but did not do that. Both my landline and cell phone are on the do not call list and have been for many years.
