Type of a scam Government Grant
I was contacted by an unknown number and the woman I spoke with said she was calling from the US government and treasury department. She told me I had been chosen to receive a $9000 grant and I wouldn’t have to pay it back or pay any taxes on it. I then asked her how she obtained my information and she said I was an individual who filed or paid their taxes on time and then she proceeded to ask if I had ever been convicted with a felony, to which I replied no. Then she started to repeat her spiel about how I could receive $9000 without obligation to pay it back, etc. I asked for her name ("Grace" if that was her real name) and the name of her supervisor. When I started to ask these questions she became very annoyed with me asking me why I wanted to know this information, and I told her I’d like to do my research and find out if this is a legitimate deal and I’m not sure if she heard me say all that or not but she just hung up on me.
