Type of a scam Romance
Consumer received instant messages from a person called US Army General Ben Clifford who is stationed in Syria and is about to retire in a few weeks. He claimed he was a widow and that he was on liberty and used his free time to find a wife to settle when he retires and moves back to Altanta , GA. He corresponded with the female consumer for a course of 3 days, immediately claiming that he fell in love with her profile photo and he will make her his wife. The consumer got curious and decided to google and see if there was an actual General named Ben Clifford and found out there was no such person. She proceeded to reverse look up his profile picture and found out that the photo was stolen from an actual retired US Army General of another name and the name tag in the photo did not have the name Clifford on it. She also read about the Nigerian Prince Scams online with similar stories. The con will profess his love and gain a trust and later proceed to ask for money because he’s been kidnapped, etc. She proceeded to tell the imposter that she knows he is a scam and to never contact her again. The imposter immediately deleted his fake google+ profile.
