I am selling a car on Craigslist. The scammer texted me, asked me a general question about the car, then asked that I go to the website “her dealer brother” recommended, vinchecksnow.com, and email my car history report to her. I looked the website up and the link actually brought me to a website called official.vin instead. There were noticeable grammar mistakes on the website. I texted the scammer that I can provide her the vin number for her to get a report herself and texted back that she is not interested until I go to the particular website she suggested.

This is the entire text:

Hey my fault– my phone has terrible reception right now — interested in your vehicle.

What can I tell you about it

It looks great but i have a few question

Whats the price for your Dune buggy ?

$5500

Also, do you mind sending me a history report of the car to show the title is clean and no major accidents?

The place my brother whos a car dealer recommends is: *** send it to me at *** if you can!

Ok

once i see a clean report from ***  we can setup a time for a test drive

It doesn’t run

hmu after you’ve got the report and we can make a time to meet up

The engine is on a stand

The buggy is just a shell

Great! look forward to seeing the report 😉 ive been thinking about getting a Dune buggy for a little bit now.

I am in south west Missouri

I will check my email throughout the today! Thank you!!

This buggy hasn’t even been on the road for 15 years
