Gabriel – Aug 28, 2020

Victim Location 38122

Total money lost $2,850

Type of a scam Charity

I was emailed through my school email and it said that they were looking for job applicants to help with UNICEF. I didn’t think much of it because the email said that it came from a staff of my school. So I sent my information and they sent me a check and a letter. They claimed that they were apart of UNICEF. The check was $2850.90. I didn’t know that at the time it was fake. They told me to send this money to an organization and so I did. They said that they would pay me 400 and the rest was to be used for the charity. So i ended up sending 2450.90. I sent 1500 through zelle and the rest of the amount was put into gift cards and sent to them. Then the bank told me that my account was on hold because of deposit fraud. I explained to them what happened and they said that I had been scammed. So, I showed them the messages, email, and paper that they sent to me. I didn’t know that it was a fake check and I actually though i was working for UNICEF
