A random company called stating that my computer had been compromised, since I was having problems with my system running slow over the weekend, I believed them. The individual on the line (Nat) stated he needed to install virus protection software of my computer costing me $400 to do it remotely or $500 if I brought it in. Something, felt suspicious yet I continued to go through with it. Later, I just didn’t feel right and turned my computer off. I called geek squad to did ensure me that this company made attempts to hack my computer on 10/1/17 and was unsuccessful. When I gave them access they did downloaded software on my computer to retrieve my personal account information. This company is calling people attempting to ruin lives and acting like a reputable company, they need to be stopped! What gave it away is that they called from a local number and was very unprofessional to the point where I heard someone say in the background say "suck my dick" then the call terminated. When I called back they said they let that person go (as in terminated their employment) I was thinking wow just like that something is not right about this transaction. I am still truly afraid this might come back on me in the future as I did provide them a check number to my credit union account and had to issue a stop payment on the $400 check.
